-One Month Later-
It had been surprisingly quiet since I left Colson's house. I had checked into a hotel downtown, close to the office so I didn't have far to travel for work. I had been apartment shopping and had been to a few but nothing had caught my eye just yet. Mags was upset after I told her everything that had happened and everything that Colson had said. I knew she had met with him and gave him a piece of her mind, but it didn't matter. I was moving past it. I was actually happy that he hadn't tried to contact me, and since I had spoken to Rick I hadn't noticed any EST vehicles following me around. I needed to focus on me and my safety, and I couldn't do that with my mind clouded by thoughts of Colson.
I had been working harder then usual. I had won two cases in the past month, and gained more respect from colleges. Kellan and I were on good terms, but we never spoke of our private lives to each other anymore. He didn't bring up Colson and I was very thankful. We were currently at a charity benefit downtown for the local kids art program. He had asked me to be his plus one and I accepted seeing as I hadn't been out in a month. Mags and her husband Sean where also present seeing as Sean was the art teacher at the local High School, so I didn't feel awkward at all.
"These kids have so much talent." Mags spoke as she and I walked around the exhibit.
"I know. It's crazy that at this age the only thing I was good at was hiding weed and coke in my bra." I spoke.
We busted out laughing, arm in arm as we continued through. People were everywhere, making donations and buying some of the art, all while getting their drink on. Mags and I both had a glass of wine in our hands as we passed through people checking out the art. A familiar blonde came into focus and I gasped as Mags recognized her.
"Ashliegh!" Mags called out, running over to engulf her in a hug as she turned.
"Oh my god, Mags!" Ashliegh replied, pulling back to look at me with a smile. "Tessa, you look beautiful."
"Awe thank you. It's good to see you." I smiled, pulling back from our hug.
"What are you doing here girl?" Mags asked, taking a sip from her glass.
"Mr. Ross and Kels donate a lot of money to the local kids programs. It's one of the things that make me proud to call them my employers." Ashleigh spoke.
"That's actually pretty awesome." I spoke, shocked. "I wasn't aware of that."
"It's not something they advertise all over." Ashleigh spoke. ""Speaking of, their around here somewhere. I'm sure they'd love to see you and say hi."
"Oh, I'm sure their busy." I spoke quickly with a glance at Mags. "Maybe before we leave."
"Of course." Mags smiled. "Well you go back and enjoy yourself. It was so good to see you, maybe us girls can grab lunch one day."
"Absolutly. I'm always down for girl talk and food."
We parted ways and cautiously made our way through the people after learning EST was around. I didn't want to run into them because I honestly didn't have much to say. I wouldn't say I was still angry, I just didn't want to bring up the past.
"There you two are." Kellan spoke as he and Sean walked up.
"See anything you liked?" Sean asked, wrapping his arm around Mags waist.
"There's a lot of nice things here babe." Mag smiled. "Your kids are talented."
"Yeah. I'm just glad people donate to these funds to help out with all the supplies." Sean spoke.
