Once we made it back to Colson's house everyone disbanded. Most of the boys headed into the game room and were either playing the PlayStation 4 or playing a game of pool. Colson, Slim and Baze had headed into his studio and closed the door without a word to anyone. I went upstairs and took a shower, changed into pj's and headed back down stairs. Ashleigh had texted me earlier that she was going to get some sleep so other than some soft noise coming from the game room the house was pretty quiet. I opened the fridge and grabbed a bowl of cut up fruit and a water, closing the door with my foot before walking over to the kitchen table and sitting.
My mind had been racing with so many different things. There were so many things that Colson and I hadn't discussed that we needed to, but the time never seemed to be right. Either we were too wrapped up in each other or we each were too busy for the conversations to happen. I sighed after taking a bit out of a piece of pineapple, looking around and the beautiful kitchen. Colson's house was growing on me more and more and I know he wanted me to move in here as soon as possible, but I didn't want to chance it. Things between us had been moving at a rapid pace between us, which I didn't regret in the least because I loved him to pieces, but I just wasn't ready to give up that part of myself just yet.
I let out a small whistle, smiling as I heard the little bell on Iggy's collar as he ran toward me. He jumped up onto the chair next to mine and began to nuzzle into me, purring loudly.
"There's momma's baby." I cooed, rubbing and loving on him. "I've missed you too Iggy Pop." I smiled as he purred louder.
For the longest time it was just me and my cat. I was content in that an so was he. Iggy never really warmed up to anyone other than Mags, and the fact that he had grown to be comfortable around everyone here made me happy. They loved him, well because he was the most chill cat ever, and it made my heart happy to see that he was adjusting well to bouncing back and forth between the hotel and Colson's.
"Damn Iggy, stealing all my love bro."
I looked up and smiled as Colson's tall, slim form walked into the kitchen. He had removed his shirt since being home, so his tattoo's where on full display as he headed toward the fridge and grabbed himself a water before walking toward me. I picked Iggy up and sat him in my lap, Colson instantly sliding into the seat he had been occupying.
"What's good baby?" He replied, reaching over and grabbing a strawberry from the bowl, taking a bite.
"Just enjoying some one on one time with my Iggy." I smiled as Iggy looked at Colson, purring as he scratched his head.
"Dude I love this cat. He's so chill." Colson smiled as he looked at him.
"Your lucky he let's you anywhere near his momma." I chuckled.
"Nah, we good. I already talked to him, got permission to lock down his momma. We straight." Colson winked, causing me to chuckle as I let Iggy down. "So, what's on your mind Tess?" He grabbed another strawberry.
"Many things." I sighed, opening my water bottle.
"Talk to me baby." He turned his chair facing mine, pulling my chair towards his more.
"I don't want to irritate you Colson." I placed the lid back on the fruit bowl and looked up into his eyes.
"Baby, I want to know what's got your mind else where. If we don't get it out in the open it's going to make you crazy and I only need you crazy in bed." I nudged him with my foot, both of us chuckling as he held onto my leg, placing it in his lap. "Talk to me."
"I have some questions, things that have been brought up between us here and there. But I don't like prying because I feel whatever you want me to know you'll tell me."
"I don't want any secrets between us Tessa. Whatever you want to know ask me. I'm an open book when it comes to you." His eyes never left mine as his hand rubbed up and down my leg soothingly.
"Well," I cleared my throat. "How did you get out of the charges? I know the lawyers that were assigned to your case after I stepped back and I'm not saying they aren't good but, they aren't the best."
"Pops handled all that. He knew someone in the prosecutors office and we met with them and cut a deal. Paid them close to 2 mill to make it all go away." He shrugged like it was something that happened in his life all the time.
"Baby, two million dollars isn't a shrugging matter." My eyes wide as I looked at him.
"Babe, you do realize the world your in right? Money is the motive and I got plenty of it."
"Ugh." I groaned, leaning my head back, smiling slightly as he laughed.
"What else is on your mind?"
"I have a feeling I already know the answer to this question but, tonight when this Jarrod was applying he wanted a price for me, he was meaning sex trade right?" I looked up into his eyes, sighing as he nodded his head yes. "Please tell me that's not something your involved with."
"Hell no. That's not our style baby." He leaned forward a bit, my legs resting on either side of his lap. "I'm not going to lie, sex trade and trafficking is something that happens in the game I'm in. I've seen it go down and I don't believe in it by any means but, you learn quick to not stick your nose in places it doesn't belong, which your well aware of in the profession your in." I nodded as he continued. "Pops ain't about exploiting anyone, weather it be female or male. We stick strictly to our products and nothing more. That's I sent them Diddy's way."
"How did they know Rook?" I asked.
"Rook use to run with them before we met him. They had him all screwed up and doing some crazy shit. Slim stepped in and brought Rook here and the rest is history. We took him in and it changed his life for the better. He's the little brother we never wanted but couldn't live without."
"What is your business Colson?" I asked softly, staring intently into his eyes.
"You already know the answer to that baby." He whispered. "But you should know that I would never put you in any type of danger. I won't have you near the product because that's not who you are anymore and I don't want to ever bring you back into that. I know the risks, but you wont ever have to worry about that."
"But I'm with you now baby. Your problems are my problems." I replied.
"Not where my choice of career is concerned Tessa." Colson tugged me toward him more, casing me to sit up straighter and lean into him, the smell of marijuana and alcohol surrounding me. "Just trust me that I will always keep you safe and tell you what you need to know baby. This life is crazy, you've lived it. But I wont place you in harms way as long as I can control it, ya hear me?"
I leaned forward, pressing my lips to his. I knew he was a prideful man, and he meant every word he said of protecting me and making sure I wouldn't be placed in the middle of his business. But what I couldn't help him to understand was that I was willing to do that. Being his woman meant being his backbone, and I would be there for him through think and thin.
