Academy Classroom 4: The Next Morning

Kiba and Choji had walked me to the Academy that morning in order to meet their sensei's. They'd left me as soon as we entered the building, each going down a separate hallway to find where their team meetings are being held. My mind is still on them as I sit in the nearly empty classroom.

Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke all sit facing the door, so do I. We've been waiting for our Sensei to show up for about 15 minutes now, and something tells me that it'll be quite some time before he or she does. When I rest my chin on my hand in boredom, Sasuke gives me a curious glance, but when I make eye contact he looks away.

"Will someone wake me up when the sensei gets here?" I ask, waiting until Sakura gives me a certain nod before resting my head down. After complaining for a while, Naruto suddenly stands up and runs to the chalkboard to get an eraser.

I watch in interest as he puts the eraser in between the door and the wall so that when the squad leader walks in, he or she will get hit right on the head with the chalk covered eraser. Sasuke comments on how stupid it is, and Sakura doesn't look like she wants to get blamed for "Naruto..." I start, I decide to stop there so I won't regret anything I say later on.

After another eternity of sitting, footsteps sound outside the door. Naruto's already holding in laughter, and I lean forwards in curiosity to see what happens.

Bonk.

The eraser falls from the top of the door and hits a man's head with a puff of chalk dust. Naruto bursts out laughing while Sakura tries to pin the blame on him. I laugh almost as loud as Naruto, but try and cover it with a cough. "How can I put this..." The man in the doorway starts.

"My first impression of this group is that you're a bunch of idiots." He says monotonously. The whole room is heavy with annoyance and disappointment as this stranger stares each person down individually. The four of us stare right back at this man, our new sensei.

We weren't given his name, and judging from the fact he apparently wasn't warned about Naruto's tendency to prank, he probably doesn't know much about us either. All I know about him so far is that he seems like one of those 'more blessed by looks than brains' individuals.

"Let's head outside." The man says, turning on his heel to head of the door, brushing white chalk from his silver hair all the while. Once on the roof, our sensei instructs the four of us to sit down on the stone bench across from him. He leans on the railing as he appraises us four in the better light of day.

"Why don't you introduce yourselves?" The man says as he adjusts his gloves. I will willingly tell everyone about yourself, but not into too much detail. "Why don't you go first?" Naruto says, jutting his chin out with a strange amount of suspicion in his eye. The man sighs, nodding his assent.

At a very rapid pace, he describes himself so vaguely that I have a hard time learning anything from his spiel besides his name: Kakashi. Naruto goes next and talks so quickly that I only really hear the words 'Hokage' and 'Believe it" over and over again.

When Sakura goes, all she does is blush, stutter, and look at Sasuke. She ends her big speech with screaming at Naruto. I sigh and realize that I'll be working with these people for a long time. I guess I'll be getting to know these people better over time. Kakashi continues right along with the introductions.
