As the afternoon sun begins to shine down onto the partially constructed bridge, we watch the enemy in front of us block our path back to land.
The two enemy ninja before us looks very pleased with the situation they have managed to put us in. Zabuza takes a step towards my team.
"Haku, here, is better than even the Copy Cat Ninja." Zabuza taunts, showing off his masked companion, Haku.
"Kakashi, are you sure you want to face him?" He asks with a small smirk.
Apparently, he believes that Haku is enough to take out me, Kakashi, and the rest of the team. From next to me, Sasuke takes a step forward.
"I hate brats who think they're so cool." He holds a hand out in front of Kakashi to hold him back.
"I'll handle this, Kakashi." Kakashi sighs and puts a hand to his forehead as though he has a headache.
This team must really wear the poor guy out.
"That boy is an impressive youth," Zabuza relents, referring to the battle-ready Sasuke. "But he is nothing compared to Haku. Go, Haku." Zebus orders Haku to attack immediately.
Sasuke can handle a fight like this easily. Go, Sasuke!
Haku begins to spin around on one of his feet. He speeds up, and soon I can no longer see his actual body—just a small tornado coming towards me.
Sasuke hesitates in confusion at this attack but suddenly smiles confidently. As Haku reaches a stabbing distance of Sasuke, he simply holds out a kunai and meets Haku's weapon evenly.
The two weapons hit with a clink, and Haku's spinning tornado is brought to a standstill with a puddle of water landing at his feet. Both boys stand, weapon to weapon, staring each other in the eye.
I blink in surprise as I wonder how Sasuke detected that movement as such a fast pace. He's in a better position to see the attack.
At the angle I'm at, I can't see as well as him. Kakashi narrows his eyes. "Sakura, stay on Tazuna." He orders. "Ki, come here. Let Sasuke handle this kid."
I leap back to Kakashi's side and prepare my own kunai knife.
Looks like Sasuke will be in charge of handling the lackey while I get a shot that the big guy, Zabuza.
I look up at Kakashi for instruction, but he puts a hand on my shoulder.
"Wait..." Kakashi says, his eyes narrowed as he watches Sasuke's battle.
"Is this the best time to be waiting...?" I challenge my instructor.
I follow his gaze to Sasuke and Haku.
The two ninjas are in a stalemate between Sasuke's kunai and Haku's needle. They both fight for dominance evenly, but Haku has two fingers held up in a sign by his face.
Haku's single hand begins to make signs for a jutsu, and Kakashi strengthens his grip on my shoulder.
"A one-handed jutsu?" Kakashi whispers in shock. His eyes dart to the puddle at Sasuke's feet, and he pales.
I've never heard of such a feat, but apparently, Kakashi has, and his clear concern worries me. I do my best to wriggle out of Kakashi's death-grip in eagerness to fight.
Haku finishes the single-handed jutsu quickly and stomps his foot into the puddle of water at his and Sasuke's feet. The water flies up into the air and forms a circle around Sasuke and Haku, and Kakashi and I share a worried look.
