I run upstairs and find Amy, sprawl over the couch, munching chips. Eyes focus on T.V. I hide the medical box behind me and put it on the shelf near the wall, keeping my eyes train on her. I feel like I am in a spy movie even though I am hiding a box instead of diamonds or a dead body.
“Oh hey you came back. Noodles are in the kitchen and please bring me a glass of water. Thanks.” She says and goes back to T.V.
I run to the kitchen, bring her the bottle and sit beside her with my noodles. Suddenly my lost appetite is back even though it's already been ten minutes since I came back from downstairs but still my heart is thudding inside my chest, a goofy grin on my face. It's hard to eat these noodles when my mouth is twitching for a smile. My mind isn't on the TV because I had my own scene that is playing. I kissed him. I kissed Liam.
“What?” Amy asks and I look at her in confusion.
“What?”
“Why are you laughing?” She purses her lips and I look at her in confusion again.
“I am not laughing.”
“Yes you do. You just did. What's so funny?”
I laughed? Since when? I don't remember laughing. “I remembered something... Drake told me.” I lie and she nods her head before going back to TV. I sigh and go back to eating. Gosh I was laughing. What the hell is wrong with me? And can't this smile just slip off.
“Hey, we never got time for the conversation we stopped at the cafe.” I say, suddenly remembering it.
“What?”
“Don't play innocent here. You know about your breakdown over a hobby. What was that?” I ask, narrowing my eyes. I knew there was more to it.
She doesn't meet my eyes and after sometime says. “In physics class, Georgia and I were talking randomly. I was telling her about my thinking of doing a job and suddenly the topic drifted to hobbies. She was a great dancer, her body is flexible and she knows various forms and when she asked about mine. I kind of told her that I like photography and she...well she didn't understand it at first until I elaborate. You see she didn't mock me about it but seeing her reaction told me how mine isn't something I can call a hobby. Many people take photos, you take a lot whenever you see a view in aesthetic. Julia takes ours, Selena takes, with us. Everyone around us, take pictures. It's common nothing new.” she finishes.
I shift on the couch, until I am looking at her face properly. “Amy, are you serious? How can you say that? I understand that the thought did make you feel unsure about your liking but you can't compare it to something common. Yes, many people do click photos but not because they like it. Not because they have a fascination over photography. I take pictures only to remind myself about the view around me so that I can paint it. Unlike yours. With each picture you take, there's a reason, a part of you that also stores in that picture. It's your hobby Amy, don't name it common and something people do because trust me. Your skills are worth compared to the moves Georgia shows in dancing. She does it for fun, meanwhile the photographs you took show what exactly life means to us. To you.”
