The door opens after a minute and I met by the kind smile of Alan.“Hey.”
“I am really sorry that I am late. You have to wait for me for this long. I got stuck somewhere.” I babble. He shakes his head before opening the door wider.
“It's okay. I understand. You don't have to apologize at least you're here late or not.” he smiles again.
“Anyway come inside.” he step aside giving me space to enter. I follow his lead and open my shoes near the long coat rack but he stops me.
“Just bring it inside. Nobody mind here.” I hesitate but he assures me there's no problem so I let it go.
“Was there any problem finding my house?” he asks me. I shake my head.
“No it was quiet simple actually more than what you told me.” I tease him. Back when he gave me address, he was telling me about all sorts of landmark nearby so I won't get confused and find his house easily. I always been okay with directions but oh boy hearing him puzzled my brain so much and now that I am here. I wonder why he didn't just tell me to use the navigation, he made me think he lives in remotely dead end area.
“I was just helping you.” he rolls his eyes.
“More like confusing me.” he leads me inside the hall and my eyes roam to his house. It was large, certainly, almost intimidatingly so. The house was welcoming from the open door to the wide hallway. The floor was an old fashioned parquet with a blend of deep homely browns and the walls were the blue of summer sky meeting a pristine white ceiling. I notice some pictures hanging on the wall above the fireplace most of it from their travelling. Alan offered me a seat and I sit near the lamp that is shining another picture behind me, It was nature's art, something that soothed right to the soul.
“Did you make it?” I ask astonished.
“Yeah.”
“Wow this is so beautiful.” I observe the painting of waterfall that meets the water below, forming a rainbow near the cliff, surrounded by heavy greenery.
“And you said you are not good with painting like this.” I accuse him. “It's mind blowing.” I praise again.
“Thank you but I didn't lie though yes I made it but not all of it. I clicked that picture on one of our vacation and when we get home. I painted it with the help of my cousin who is also into arts.” he explains. I nod my head.
“Your home looks awfully quiet. No one here?” I ask. He told me his mom and little sister and brother lives with him, his father mostly out due to his business.
“Well my mom is out for grocery shopping. My sister is in her dance classes and brother probably slouching at his friend's house.” he shrugs. I nod again and continue to take in their fancy living room.
