“How come we never know about this mysterious guy friend of yours?” Selena asks while I steal some of their fries.“Because he is never around much. We met near my cafe and since then he has been my friend.” I reply and sit down to have some bites of burger.
“He is the one who dropped you home one time right?” Amy wonders and I nod my head.
“Is something going on with you two? Do you like him? Does he like you?” I choke on the burger when Julia says with lots of hope. I shake my head frantically and wipe my mouth.
“Are you out of your mind? He is just my friend and nothing else.” I roll my eyes and pick on the fries, trying to gulp harder so that I can eat again.
“Well sorry for getting that idea, you look flushed. Anyone could get the idea that you're excited to meet him.” Julia scoffs. Selena nods her head while Amy remains monotone. Oh that.
“I just—came here by running. That's the face of a person who has air bags instead of lungs.” I say, dripping the fries more into sauce.
“Aren't you getting late? You said he is waiting.” Amy says and my eyes widen.
“Oh snap. I forgot.” I quickly stand up and take some fries with me while running out. I hear my friends laugh behind me and Julia complaining about her burger I ate. Half actually. I turn to the corner and look at my phone. There are no missed calls from him so I am assuming I am not that late. I cross the road quickly before going inside the diner. We decided to meet here again since it's close to college. I spot him easily because of his blonde quiff. He is sitting near the window and I walk towards him. I tap his shoulder and give him a smile. His mouth pulls into a big smile and he stands up.
“Hey.” I greet and put my bag on the empty chair before sliding on another.
“Hiiiii..” he says breathlessly and I look up at him. He is staring at me, with his mouth slightly ajar. His eyes are wide and I notice his attire. He is wearing a white button up and blue denim jeans. The sleeves are rolled up to his forearms, his muscular arms on display, showing his impressive arms. I noticed he wasn't that much of a muscular type guy but now he is.
“I think someone is spending way too much time in gym.” I grin and expect an answer but I don't get any. He is still staring at me. Now I can't help but feel nervous.
“What happened?” I ask incredulously.
He blinks several times and I see him visibly gulp. “You look-bea...different.” my eyes widened slightly at his words. Oh my god. Am I still looking like I just cried? Is my face still red or any smudge of wetness around my cheeks. Did my friends see it too? Why didn't they say anything?
Well Julia did. My brain reminds me.
“I meant to say you look umm good.” He corrects himself. Oh, this guy. He is so sweet, correcting himself like that.
