You've been dating Tom for a while now and you couldn't have been happier. At the beginning after all you have been through before you thought that it wouldn't last long. You weren't sure about this relationship and you were so scared and broken but Tom took his time with you. he was so patient and helped you no matter what. He taught you love and you were grateful to him for that. you naturally thought that a trip to your hometown to meet your family was a good idea.

After a quite exhausting trip you finally reached your childhood house. You knocked at the door and your parents were quick to open. They hugged you tightly and they greeted Tom. They let you in and your father helped Tom to put your luggage in your bedroom upstairs while you chatted with your mum. She was so happy to see you with a nice guy that make you smile. During the diner everything went perfectly and by the look of approval on your parents' faces you knew they liked Tom.

The following days you visited the beautiful sights next to your home and Tom was astonished by the beauty of them. You met some friends of yours for a party and went there with Tom. He was quite nervous about it and you laughed a bit since he wasn't that nervous when he met your parents and he argued that he had already them on the phone before and you had talked about them a lot so he was prepared. But you rarely spoke about your childhood friends so he didn't know what to expect. You tried to reassure him but he still seemed anxious. But when he arrived he was welcomed by everybody liked him. you were glad of it and you had a lot of fun. Truly all your friends were really fond of him and one them told you that it was nice to see with someone lovely that took care of you.

Your mum asked you to go to the grocery shop to buy the ingredients to do a broccoli cheddar soup. You grabbed your purse and the shopping bag, you were about to leave when Tom told you that he would go with you. you smiled at him telling him that it was okay, it was just going to the grocery shop he could stay home and relax but he insisted and you just smiled at him. he kissed you and took your hand in his as you walked down the streets to the shop.

You were in the vegetables aisle trying to find the perfect broccoli and Tom was in the cheese aisle. You were picking up a broccoli when you felt someone behind you. you turned yourself ready to tell Tom that you had noticed mouth-watering berries and that you should buy them with vanilla ice cream for the dessert, but when you realized who was now in front of you your face fall a bit. You were about to run away to find Tom when the person grabbed your wrist. "Are you going to leave me like that without any words?" You straitened a bit and didn't know what to say. You just wanted to leave so bad. You looked everywhere to see where Tom was but you didn't see him. you stammered a bit and managed to say "I just didn't realize it was you, Y/E/B/N. what are you doing there?" not knowing what to say, you just wanted to escape from his grip but he scared you too much and you didn't dare to move. You felt another hand on your shoulder and instantly you relaxed. Your ex let your hand go and seemed very upset. You knew that look so much and it scared you even more.

"I'm Tom, Y/N's boyfriend and you are?" Tom asked while putting a protective hand around your waist.

Your ex-boyfriend to Tom and instead looked at you deeply as he was trying to read your mind and it made you really uncomfortable.

"I didn't know you had found somebody else." He finally said clenching his jaw.

"I... I..." you tried to reply but the words were stuck on your tongue. Tom firmed his protective grip around you and you knew that nothing bad could happen, Tom was there.

"Y/N I really think you deserve better, I mean look at him he seemed so lame. Breaking up with me for that guy, don't you feel that you made a mistake?"

You remained silent and looked at Tom for help. This latter pressed your hand gently and replied coldly "I don't think she did a mistake, I think dating you was a mistake. I would never act like you did with her because I love her, something you never did because when you love someone you don't hurt that person constantly, you don't belittle that person..."then he turned to you and asked nicely "We should go to pay, don't we?" You nodded and followed Tom without another glance to the guy you left behind.

As you left the shop you were still a bit trembling and anxious. Tom noticed that and hold your hand. He leaned a bit and whispered in your ear "don't worry Y/N you are safe. He is not there, he is out of your life now and I am here to protect you. Y/N never think that you don't deserve what you have because you did, you are amazing and you should know that and no matter what he told you for years he was wrong. You are a superb woman and you deserve the world and never doubt that." you looked at him with smile and kissed him knowing that Tom would never hurt you and would do the world to make you happy.
