FACT#73: Game of Thrones Season 5 reported to film in Kaštel Gomilica near Split
BY LIGHTBRINGER ON AUGUST 13, 2014 A new location for the filming of Game of Thrones Season 5 has been uncovered by Total Split. We learned earlier this year that Šibenik would be added to the list of locations in Croatia, and Kaštel Gomilica looks to be added as well.
Today, a local portal, grada Kaštela, informed the public that on August 14, there would be several hours of controlled burning of trash and other fine materials along the sealine in Kaštel Gomilica, opposite of a fortress known as Kaštilac. The announcement came with one other special note - it was to prepare for the filming of Game of Thrones.
Kaštilac is an ancient fortress within Kaštel Gomilica, a small settlement just miles from Split. Kaštilac lies on an island 40m from the shore, connected by a stone bridge, and is one of the original seven castles of Kaštela.
