PAULINAS POV// Nov. 7, 2015
It's been a year. An entire year. Can you believe it? I asked Angie out exactly one year ago today.
A person isn't a person until they've had their broken pieces rearranged into a beautiful glass mosaic by the person they love. Do I need to say it louder? A PERSON ISN'T A PERSON UNTIL SOMEONE HAS TOUCHED THEM. There. Better? When I met Isaac, my pieces were scrambled, out of order and disengaged from each other. When I started dating Angie, my pieces had pieces. Angie repaired my broken pieces while Isaac just tried to arrange them in the order he thought would fit best.
When I sit up in bed my room is bright. My room feels icy so I burrow myself back under my blankets before even thinking about getting up.
"Goddammit," I curse because I can't reach my phone which is a foot and a half away on my nightstand. The clock on my phone says 7:31 am. Am I really awake before noon on a Saturday? Wow.
In all honesty, I don't have anything planned for today. Since it's early and the most important day of the year, I get out of bed and put on my newest leather jacket, of course, black jeans to match and matte black docs. The usual dyke Paulina. When I open up my bedroom door the sweet face to greet me makes me feel guilty for leaving so early.
"Where you going?" My youngest brother asks me while squeezing his stuffed minion tight between his chest cavity.
"Angie's," I answer still standing in front of him.
"Is she coming here later? I wanna see her," He says.
"She isn't but I'll let her know you're asking for her ok?" I assure him.
"Do you want me to take you back to bed? It's early bud,"
"I'm hungry. Can I go with you?" He asks and I spin him around and escort him to the kitchen.
"Oh no no no you can't," I say and giggle because what Angie and I might do is rated R that is if she ever lets me fuck. Before I go to Angie's house I go to Whole Foods that's right next door to my house. I go straight to the floral section and look for anything with yellow roses or even better, hibiscus'.
"Hi, do you have bouquets with hibiscus?" I ask the employee behind the floral counter.
"Um, hibiscus flowers are never sold in bouquets," The employee tells me with an attitude.
"Fuck me, ok thanks," I say and walk away from the register. My next best bet is to look for yellow roses. Thankfully I find a bouquet of bright yellow roses.
"How much is this shit?" I whisper to myself while angrily rotating the bouquet in search for the price.
"15 fucking dollars? She better sneeze glitter after smelling these," I raise an eyebrow and check out.
8:26am //
I stand in front of Angie's front door trying to shove the roses in my backpack that is actually too small for an 18-inch bouquet. I cram them in there tight enough to avoid awkward questions from Angie's mom who is most likely going to open the door.
"Oh look Tux, it's our friend Paulina," Angie's mom says to the cat in a baby voice after she answers the door.
"Good morning Miss A," I laugh.
"Good morning sweetheart. What're you doing here so early?" She asks and walks to the kitchen after putting Tux down.
"I was bored and I had no plans today so I figured I'd spend time with Angie," I don't know how I have the heart to lie right to my girlfriend's mom as if I'm not going to walk up those stairs and make out with her daughter.
