You leaned on your boyfriend's back sleepily with a book in your lap. It had a been a quiet, long day for the two of you. He barely talked, so you didn't really see a need to either.
Then, you thought about it. You two had been together for a long ass time now, and you've barely heard his voice.
"hyakunosuke," you mumbled.
he hummed in acknowledgment
"say 'nyah' ."
Ogata craned his neck to look back at you, "come again?"
You sat up and turned Ogata around to where he was facing you, "Nya~!" You repeated, this time winking and placing your hands close to your head.
"Nyah?" he copied you.
You clapped with a smile, "We shall now call you 'Ogato' ! "
"Hey, Saichi. Do you know here Ogata went?" you asked. He shook his head.
You went on and asked Asirpa, "Do you know where Ogata went Asirpa?" she shook her head with a laugh, "he probably ran away from you."
You frowned and rolled your eyes before running up to Tanigaki and asking him the same question. He said no.
Everyone else you had asked, Kiroranke, Shiraishi, Ienaga, Hijikata, UShiyama, and Nihei's hunter's spirit, responded the same.

Later on, after a long time of walking, the group decided to rest. Asirpa's stomach started summoning demons again. Then Shiraishi's joined in, and somehow everyone's stomach was apart of a devil summoning cult.
"I want some citatap!" You whined.
Asirpa smiled at you, "I feel the same (y/n)."
"Why didn't we hunt earlier?" you asked.
Everyone shrugged as their stomachs growled uncontrollably. You sighed and shook your head.
Then the bushes started to shake and tremble tremendously. Sugimoto had immediately put himself in front of you. "Watch out (y/n)," he whispered.
Next thing ya know, a small black cat came out of the bushes. You pushed Sugimoto out of the way and picked up the smol creature, bringing it back to the group.
"LET'S EAT THE CAT!" Shiraishi yelled.
You set the cat down and left it be, "We're not eating it. I've already come up with a name for it and we're keeping it."
Sugimoto frowned, "Why don't you let it go back in the wild?"
You shrugged and pushed the cat back towards the bushes whence it came. The cat turned its head around and gave you a look that you couldn't quite understand, but proceeded into bushes.
"There goes our only food..." Shiraishi sighed.
Suddenly the cat came out of bushes, dragging a fresh deer carcass.
"We are keeping this cat and that's final."

You fed the cat, groomed the cat, and the cat loved you in return. Most nights the cat, which you called 'yamaneko', would sleep on your chest or face.
Yamaneko enjoyed his spot perched on the very top of your head. He'd hiss and claw at anyone who dared think about taking him down.
While you were walking, the cat decided to curl up on your head and take a nap.
who knew that in the middle of his nap, he would return to his original form? no one, nobody in the group expected to see a grown ass man clinging onto your head for dear life.
"Ogata..."
Ogata was honestly scared, he didn't know how you'd react this. Were you going to be mad at him? feel guilty that you wasted everyone's time on him? But he never would let it show.
