So where was I?

Oh yes...a person or maybe probably people are right behind me and yes, I am scared to look back but well, my curiosity gets the best of me and I look behind me and see Zane's friends from earlier.

"Hey guys. Care to join us?" Ellie starts. I look at her, giving her 'why did you that?' look but she ignores me and watch them waiting for them to say something but their gaze is on me. Time to start looking for a new school and preparing transfer papers.

"Can we borrow Cassandra for a little while?" the blond guy who was talking to Zane earlier states with a neutral expression. How did he know my name?

"Okay then James." Ellie says with a smile. So if the guy wearing the green tank top is James then the other is...Darren. Oh God, I'm am literally doomed. My thoughts have become the exact definition of the word CHAOTIC.

"But who wants to see me?" I chirp in because this suspense could me pee in my pants, and that's not happening.

"It's just us and--"

"How can I trust you guys?" I stare at them, not breaking eye contact with them.

James looks at me and sighs. "You can ask Ellie. We'd never hurt you, all we want to do is to talk. Okay?"

I look into James' grey eyes and find sincerity. "Fine." I slur my word.

I get up and follow them out of the cafeteria not without telling Ellie that she is done by the time I get back. We stop by the lockers when I look at them asking them what they want from me.

"Sorry for disturbing your lunch but we want to apologise on Zane's behalf. We know he's such a jerk, sometimes but he's going through a lot right now-" Darren says with an apologetic look in his eyes.

"Like what?"

"That we can't say but still, sorry about what happened earlier." James states.

"Why isn't he the one apologising right now?" I cross my arms over my chest, staring at them.

"He couldn't meet you because he really isn't in the right frame of mind at the moment." James concludes and with that, they leave me all alone in the corridor. What do they mean that he's not in the right frame of mind? What could be going? But thinking the best of the situation, I've got my issue at the moment where a threat letter arrived my home yesterday.

Instead of standing out there, I walk back into the cafeteria and sit opposite Ellie who just looks at me.

"What did they say?" she asks immediately that makes a confused scowl appear on my face momentarily before disappearing. I pick up my apple, casually throwing it in the air and catching it.

"They were apologising for what happened in the hallway this morning." I say still trying to wrap my head around their statement.

"That's nice," she says, looking at her fingernails. I try biting into my apple when the devil in form of the bell echoes through the halls. I watch my apple as if it was going to come to life and sigh.

"Are you coming or what?" Ellie gets up and watches me.

No waste of food, right? I pick up my apple and yes, I'm saving this bad boy for later.

I'm back home wondering what Darren and James meant at lunch today. Apologising? Right frame of mind? I think the day is just getting better with every passing hour. I'm in bedroom but I'm starving so, I find my way back into the kitchen and pick the loaf of bread and butter with a butter knife stacked up, finding my way to the living room.

I switch on the television trying to watch something but unfortunately, I'm in the mood to eat and not watch. I'm eating when the doorbell rings. I gulp and get up from the sofa, and walk towards the door. My hands are sweaty but I finally look through the peephole and see my dad. I sigh in relief and open the door.

"Hey darling." He says with a welcoming smile on his face. I lock the door behind him and walk in.

"Welcome home dad. Any news?" I ask as we both take our seats by the kitchen island.

"There may be no need to panic..."

"Why?" I say shocked.

"As for the threat letter, we've been in contact with security agents around and we've been reassured of our safety but that's if you remember the drill."

"Always keep a low profile" I say slurring my words on purpose.

My dad pinches my cheeks and smiles. "That's my girl...you'll be meeting Vanessa later. Remember?"

"Yes I do but what do you want to eat?"

"I can visibly see you're having a feast so whatever you're having."

"Coming right up!" I get down from the chair and walk into the kitchen.

*****

"What did you see?"

"Just images. Some blurry that I couldn't picture but I could visibly see blood and hear screams. It just creeps me out." I say to Vanessa.

She adjusts her glasses and tucks a strand of her platinum blond hair behind her ear. She writes something down on a notepad. She looks back at me, trying to say something but nothing comes out. Finally, "I hope you haven't done any of the 'do nots'"

"I haven't," I raise my right hand above my head. "I promise." And with that I place my hand back on my thigh.

"What happened at school today?"

"Still with Ellie and had a run-in with Zane"

"Who's Zane, that's if I may ask"

"Zane is a kid at school. Look fierce and like everyone worships him and could lick the ground he walks on, even without him telling them to do so. Anyway, after the whole thing, his friends came to apologise to me on his behaviour earlier today during lunch. I thought it was weird but after stating he wasn't in the right frame of mind, I could only let my curiosity take over."

"Are you okay now? Or you want to say anything else?"

"Nope, I'm good"

"Since you find it difficult to sleep, I'll prescribe sleeping pills that will get you to bed without trying hard."

"Fine and thanks for today's session. I think I needed that."

"Anytime Cassie."

And with that, I'm out of her office. So happy I got that off my chest.
