"Why?" I break down into tears.

"Just memories..."

Small soft steps make its way downstairs and I pull away from Zane slowly. A small girl runs towards him, smiling with an orange cast slung across her shoulder. He turns towards her and swoops the ten years old in his arms without breaking a sweat.

"Hey!" she says to me.

I smile at her. She looks so much like Zane. Same skin tone, hair colour but brown eyes.

"Hi darling. How are you doing?"

"I'm good and you are?"

"My name is Cassandra but you can call me Cassie." She looks back at Zane who is smiling at her.

"You have a beautiful name-"

This girl could make you blush.

"Thank you-"

"Zara, are you done with your homework?"

"Yes, I am," she replies her brother. "Can I have some biscuits?"

"Of course you can," She wiggles her way out of her brother's arms and runs to the kitchen. "Don't finish it!" he yells behind her. She only laughs and proceeds to do what she's doing-snacking biscuit.

"She's beautiful," I say and he nods. "I-I think I'll be leaving now-"

"Let me grab a shirt and I'll drive you home." He leaves and walks up the stairs, leaving me in the hallway. After some few minutes, he walks back down wearing a plain black shirt. He picks his car keys from the kitchen counter and tells Zara she should not open the door for anyone except him. She nods and proceeds to the living room. Zane opens the door but lets me walk out first and follows me behind.

We get into his car and he reverses out of the driveway. The drive is in silence but we get to my house. He drops me off and I turn to look back at him.

"Take care of yourself...and take care that bruise" I say before I walk out of the car. I'm on my front porch and I see him nod with a smile.

"Are you coming on Friday?" he yells from his car.

"Yeah...I am."

"So I'm picking you up at seven?"

"Okay..."

"Stay. Still"

"No I won't. I've been sitting on this chair for the past one hour for hair and makeup. That curling wand is so close to my face and it's hot."

"It's worth it-"

"If I get my face burnt, I won't forgive you Ellie." I turn to face her from my chair.

"Zane's going to be here any minute and you haven't picked an outfit."

"Why did I agree to do this in the first place?"

"We told you to and you said you're parents said yes after the phone call," Oh yeah, that phone call. "And...I'm done-"

"Finally!" I get up and look at Ellie who is looking smoking hot in her navy blue short body hugging dress and a pair of black pumps. Her red hair is pulled up into a bun. Her lips is coated in a plum lipstick and the green of her eyes come out better in the black eyeliner and mascara.

She pulls me towards my closet and looks through it. As much as I love reading, I hate walking to the mall. That's why I do most my shopping online with anonymous accounts and because of him.

She finds a black shirt dress that stops mid-thigh and a red belt to pair. She picks out a black pair of ankle boots that I'm comfortable in. I slip into the outfit and look at my full length mirror in front of me. My dark hair's been curled at the tip, black smokey eyes and red lip gloss. I pick up my red clutch and stare at myself in the mirror. I look unrecognisable even to myself.
