For this chapter, I'm still going to recommend Head Above Water--Avril Lavigne. But please enjoy. I've been having writer's block for some weeks and this is an accomplishment and effort made from those days.
I and Vanessa are heading to the rehab center since she volunteered to take me there instead on my parents. I'm resting my head by the window, letting the music playing drown the quiet atmosphere.
I'm tired of this silence. "Vanessa so how long is this going to take?"
No answer.
I shake my head and rest my head back on the window.
After some few minutes, we're leaving town? I need to say something, fast.
"Vanessa, isn't the rehab center back in town?" She says nothing. "Vanessa? Where are you taking me to? Vanessa I need an answer damn it!"
She abruptly halts the car "Shut up!" she yells at me. "What I'm doing is for Lee's and my good. He already took Trystan away from me, not Lee."
Who's Lee? "What are you saying Vanessa?"
"I'm sorry Cassie," she says apologetically, holding a handkerchief to my face. I squirm but it is no use. Even my screams come out muffled.
"Stay still Cassie!" she screams back. I keep kicking but it's not helping. I move my hand around the door, open the door and break free from her hold. I fall out of the door, grab my phone and begin running. The place is deserted.
I can hear Vanessa scream and shout my name but I don't turn back to look at her. I give enough gap to run and hide. I turn on my phone GPS in case I don't make it out of wherever. I send my current location to Zane, hoping he'd find it and keep following the GPS to its last location. I silence and hide the phone under my hoodie. My breathing is heavy but I decide to keep running. I don't know how long I hide but by the time I'm about leaving my hiding spot, Vanessa is just close by. I rest my back against the huge rusty crate.
"Cassie!" she calls out severally. I'm panting hard and I know she'd be able to hear me. Whatever was in the handkerchief was strong. I'm about taking the other way out when she grabs me by the arm. I turn to face her, her face was blank of any emotions.
She forces me to the ground and hold the handkerchief to my nose once again. I struggle, scream and shout but it all ends up futility by the time my vision goes blank.
Light screams down on my face, my head is aching as well as my body.
"Good, you're awake," Vanessa says, making me turn towards her.
"What do you want from me?"
"Nothing exactly."
She drags me out of the car seat, holding me by my arm. I use my other hand to adjust my hoodie and keep following her. I touch my body, satisfied that my phone is still with me. I keep taking glances at her but she's looking forward.
We stop in front of a huge warehouse-like building, Vanessa proceeds to knock. The peep hole is opened and shut quickly. The noise of large bolts and the opening door, makes me interested in what is behind the door, and why Vanessa is like this.
Her platinum blond hair is pulled into a messy bun, her glasses are balanced on her nose, and most of all, her white knitted gown has dust on some parts of it. The man behind the door looks at Vanessa who doesn't look half as frightened as I am. The muscular man walks down the dimly illuminated hallway. The hallway extends for a long way before we take a left corner to an open door.
Vanessa and I go down the stairs, walk through another dark hallway and finally emerge out of it, only to find ourselves in an open space. I look around me. The space is so vast.
How did we even get here?
Mere looking from where we came in from, I would have never imagined that there was a place as huge and open as this.
I face meets the ground, as Vanessa pushes me down on the ground roughly. I groan as my body aches me where I just landed on. I push myself up and examine my hand, bruised.
I turn to look at Vanessa who doesn't even look at me but something before me.
"Well hello niece. We meet once again, don't we?"
He's here. He's standing before me. I gulp and slowly, wide-eyed, turn to look before me.
"Don't be scared Cassandra. I always bite, don't I?"
He walks towards, hold my head up to meet his gaze. I tremble in his hold.
Please Zane check your phone...
His right hand moves lower down my hoodie, my breaths ragged. He grips my abdomen and I freeze.
"Wise, aren't you Cassie? My little niece deserves to be welcomed to the family in grand style," he says scornfully. His smirk always the same, his black hair gelled up and his scar never faded.
"I'm also glad to meet you too Ed. We finally meet again." He pulls out the phone from my hoodie and passes it down to another guy by his side; a brunette who is wearing a black shirt and bleached jeans, tattoos running around his neck, arms and some parts of his face, and a gun hanging by his side.
"Watch what happens," he laughs, pulling my head to look at the brunette who smirks at me. He throws the phone on the ground and smashes it.
"No!" I shout and turn back to look at Ed. "I just got that phone on my last birthday. You owe me a new one uncle, don't you?"
"Maybe, and that's if you live to see your 18th." I scoff but that widens his smile. "I see you've met your cousins."
"Cousins?"
"Son!" he orders.
"Darren?" He smirks.
Darren comes close to me and crouches by my side, "It's Marcus to you."
