~Zane's POV~

The snow is thicker but that isn't stopping I and Tay from meeting Vanessa today. I don't know if I can trust whatever she says but from what she said yesterday, it definitely was Ed. I'm surprised she'd want to meet here...in a restaurant.

I and Tay walk into the simple rustic themed restaurant and take our seats in a secluded area.

"When do you think she'll be here?" I ask Tay as I fiddle with my hands. Tay shakes her head and places left hand on mine.

"She'll be here. I promise you. I know you care about Cassie and that's why we're here, for her. I'm proud of you for being brave," she says with a smile on her face.

"I learnt that all from my Tay-"

"Good afternoon, please what would love to have?" I and Tay at each other before looking down at the menus.

"I'll have the New York Style Pastrami..." I say.

"For me," Tay begins, "I'll have the Garden Fresh and two bottles of water. Thank you."

The waitress smiles and leaves us wondering if Vanessa is going to come.

My phone begins vibrating, only for me to pull it out to find James' name.

"What's going on dude?"

"Hey J..."

"What's been going on? You seem so distant lately, not calling me back or replying to my text messages. Is everything alright?"

"Uhmm...yeah...it is. I've just been preoccupied with some discussion with Tay-"

"Wait a second! You and Tay have finally reconciled?"

"Yeah bro."

"I'm so happy for you."

"Thanks man-"

"Hello?" Ellie's voice interrupts.

"Hey Ellie,"

"What's going on with Cassie's phone? Going straight to voicemail. Is she okay?"

I hope she is.

"Yes. We spoke last night and she told me her phone fell into the lake by accident."

"Then how did you contact her?"

Think of something Zane.

"Her grandad's phone."

"Oh! We were heading to your house now. Will you be home any moment from now, let's say by 2?"

"Yes I will and I coming with Tay-"

"No way..."

"Better believe it Ellie,"

"OMG! Catch you later Zane. Bye!"

"Bye Ellie!"

I quickly end the call and look back at Taylor.

"Did they suspect anything?" Tay asks me.

"Not sure," I push my hair back and enclose my face in my palm. I can feel Tay's hand on my shoulder.

"It'll be fine," she calmly states.

"Thanks," I reply with a smile. I look around to find a lady, Vanessa's physique, wearing a brown trench coat and a pair of black shades; hair has been dyed brown from its normal platinum blonde.

When we both see each other, she walks towards our table.

"Hey," she hurriedly says.

"Good afternoon Vanessa," I and Tay say in unison.
