Jack groans a bit, having been dragged out of his sleep for seemingly no reason. He attempts to shift to make it back to sleep, but to no avail. He glances down and finds her clinging around him.
One of her arms are wrapped around his middle while the other is tucked between their bodies. Her leg is spread across his thighs carefully, and her calf is tucking his closer to her. Her head still rests on his chest.
He cant help but smile as his eyes skim over her sleeping face. So calm, so peaceful, so beautiful. He brushes away the hair that fell into her fae through the night, then gently kisses her forhead.
"No need to hold onto me so tightly, pet." He whispers to her sleeping figure. He runs his fingers through her hair then down her spine, then across her shoulder blades.
"I'm not going anywhere." He assures her, his lips grazing her forehead.
Guilt plays cat and mouse with elation as he falls into the moment. On one hand, he feels so calm and happy to be here with her again. On the other, he feels guilty as all hell for the miserable nights away from one another.
"Not ever again. I swear to you." He says, slightly louder to assure his promise sounds as solid as he means it, despite her sleeping ears being deaf to it.
He could swear in that moment, that her grip around him lightened, ever so slightly.
