Chapter 04

SOHAM'S POV

"You have tests after two weeks.Excel in them and you will be rewarded." Officer spoke while we all sat on floor looking at him. I had smile over my face. How can I not have ? Today Aahana is going to come!

"Listen to me very carefully! You people are criminals. The only way to mend your lives is to get educated in a proper way. All of you know how much you struggled all your life and still ended up here. Change your mindset. Get the fact straight that being cruel and cunning will let you no where. Use the opportunity and study well. I have requested professor to teach you one extra class these two weeks apart from the three classes you attend. I hope I am clear with my intention. Now get back to work !" He ordered. All inmates scrambled quickly while I had huge smile on my face. She's going to teach four days a week!! Wow! I immediately reached my place which I was alloted to clean.

"Look at you beaming with joy!" My partner commented bumping his shoulder with me.

"Ofcourse" I replied.

"Have you felt like this before? For anyone ?" I asked him

"I did. But she no longer lives now " he spoke lowly.

"I am sorry , what happened my friend?" I asked him.

" They say I killed her . I didn't. " He replied sitting down.

"That is the reason you are here ?" I asked him . He nodded his head slowly.

"How many years relationship?" I questioned him.

"Two years. She is the most beautiful soul anyone can ever meet. Someone else loved her and he killed my girl out of anger . But I was framed , somehow her dad fought for me. He knew I could never do this to his daughter. My own family disowned me " he spoke with tears falling from his eyes.

"Don't cry ! Life has wicked way of showing you happiness. Even though you lost your precious love , she gave you a family ! Why don't you see that?" I asked him.

"That's true . I found my true family. Her father shows so much affection on me. I am going to join his office after I release and study . So that I can be helpful to him." He replied wiping his tears.

"That's the only way I can repay him " he stated getting up.

I smiled warmly at him. We know who our people are in time of distress. I never knew I will get attached to Aahana like this. I wish, I could confess my love for her.

"What's your story mate?" He questioned me.

"Mine? " I asked him while he nodded his head.

"I am in here not because I did some crime " I replied.

"What does that mean?" He questioned me

"Because I did some justice. Not all have good heart to bear it right?" I asked him.

"Yes sure, your girl is coming in the afternoon today" he whispered smiling a bit.

"Afternoon? Not now. ?" I questioned him.

" I don't think, I heard our incharge talking with that big guy" he spoke pointing at some one who was busy giving orders.

Strange.

She usually takes class in the morning. What happened? Maybe she is in college. Soon our time came to attend her class. We all sat waiting for her to start the class.

"Good afternoon" she greeted smiling a bit but her eyes say another story.

"I am going to conduct a small test. I know you must be angry but please don't be. It's like practice. Ask me doubts if you are stuck somewhere. So shall we start?" She asked handing out papers.

" Yes" everyone replied lowly.  She gave us simplest problems which all were finding difficult to answer. I looked at her to see that she's lost in her own thoughts. Her eyes appear shrunken, her face dull with worry clouding all over it. She had her eyebrows drawn together thinking something deeply.

"Mam" someone called gaining her attention. She quickly scrambled to their place helping them solve it. I looked down at my paper. I can solve everything in five minutes but I didn't want others to notice me so I acted as if I am thinking over it.

"Finding it difficult?" She questioned my partner who smiled at her sheepishly.

"Its ok. Please try . I am here to help you." She said smiling a bit.

"Aahana" I called out lowly. As she passed by my place. She stilled in her place without looking back.

"Mam" I spoke a bit loudly which made her turn around.

"Hmm?" She asked without looking at me

This is not new! Look at me please!

"I have trouble with this one" I said pointing out at some random thing.

"Oh this? It needs the formula which I taught you in last class. It's like basics. I will tell you now so that you can remember it next time" she said bending a bit and solving my problem. Her hair which is held together with help of small clutch came on to her shoulder distracting me.

"So that's it. I hope you are clear now " she said looking at me.

"I am not" I spoke lowly.

"Huh?" She questioned.

"What happened?" I asked holding her hand by placing mine over her.

"Nn... Nothing" she said moving away from me.

We did our test and she taught us some topic. All the while I observed that she did not look at me or my side of the class.

"Meet you in next class. Bye" she said smiling warmly. Everyone were moving out of the room when her phone rang. She frowned but answered her call . She heard someone talking but did not respond. I was worried seeing her expressions.

"What happened?" I asked her. While my inmates were busy walking infront of me. My partner covered for me so that no one can see me. She looked away and walked out of the room silently.

Why am I sensing that it must be something related to me ?

"What happened dude?" He asked me.

"I don't know" I replied looking at her retreating figure. We were back to work and my mind couldn't stop thinking the way she behaved.

"Come let's have dinner " my partner spoke dragging me out of thoughts.

"No you go. I need to rest " I replied going back to my cell and laid down on floor closing my eyes.

"You are no way related to her !" He shouted.

"Yes I am." I replied.

" How do you even know her?" He questioned me.

" You don't need to know how I know her " I replied crossing my hands over my chest.

" I am going to succeed! Watch me !" He challenged storming out of my cabin.

Is he back ? Did he contact her again?? Now I want to come out of this prison as soon as possible!

No one can touch whats mine ! I am going to protect her !
