chapter 12

SOHAM'S POV

'Stay with the truth'

'If it's yours,  it will come to you no matter how much  struggle you go through to get it '

Opening my eyes,  I looked at my mom's smiling picture.  She has always been my role model.  Being a quiet child, I always loved to listen to her.  She has those one-liners or two-liners that convey so much meaning in them.  I could not understand them then but now when I remember it has a lot of meaning and brings peace to my mind. 

"Hello? " I answered my phone which was ringing continuously.

" Dude!  Did you want to talk with me? "  I heard his voice bringing a smile to my face.

" I wanted to know how he is doing.  Was he active again? " I questioned him to the point. 

"I don't know mate.  Will dig into it and let you know " he responded.

" She's getting married soon " I gave him information.

" When did you propose to her? " he asked me excitedly

" I didn't. They are looking for alliances. " I said. 

" That's the reason you want me to just dig up? I will look into it.  Don't worry.  How's your life going on? " he asked me.

" Do you think she will be safe if I marry her?  Or will I be exposing her more to danger? " I asked him.

" Why sudden thought Soham? You love her don't you?  " he questioned me.

" I do Dhruv.  But if she wants to get married to someone else how can I force her to stay with me?  I mean she should feel the same right?  Her family should agree... " I trailed thinking how particular her mom is.

" Are you listening to yourself? Let her know your feelings.  Marry her if you want to.  For every problem, there's a solution.  Don't overthink my friend.  Regarding her safety,  when she is so far from you,  you kept her safe and if she's beside you I am sure no harm can come to her.  " he assured me disconnecting our call. 

I know I am being stupid.  But I don't want to create any negative impression about me.  I will go with the flow.  When I visited her house, all I could think was is this how fate is going to be?  People I love always go away from me.  I don't want to lose Aahana too.  I need to find out if he's behind all this or not. 

" Soham are you free? " my dad called me walking into his room.  I nodded my head and followed him.

" Aahana's dad was asking about their family.  I made my assistant collect this information for him.  Read and tell him.  Or else give this file.  I hope they settle for this guy,  family seems to be good" he handed me the file.

" Dad where does uncle's brother's family stay?  Won't they contact Aahana's parents?  I mean they should at least talk over the phone, right? " I questioned him. 

" I don't know Soham,  maybe they will.  They just met for the first time.  " he replied back lying on his bed.

Suddenly I realized,  my dad was looking too weak.  I have been a very bad person these days. 

"Dad" I called out

"Hmmm," he replied.

I walked back to my room holding the file in my hand.  It's not him who should protect now.  I came out from there only to look after her and her family.  As I opened file,  I came face to face with the guy whom Aahana is going to meet this weekend.  He nowhere looks similar to him.  He might not be his brother but I am damn sure he's related to him.  As I went through details,  I saw he studied in the same college as ours junior to me and senior to Aahu.  Closing the file I leaned back thinking back to the day he visited my office after her death. 

" You look as weak as her" he came inside uninvited.

"You are very lucky I stopped with your brother. " I spoke looking into his eyes.  His fist balled ready to hit me but I knew how to control him.

"You will be behind bars.  I will make sure of it" he spoke gritting his teeth. 

"So will you,  maybe after me? " I questioned him.

"Whatever I do,  the world knows but there is no proof to get me behind bars" he replied with arrogance.

"That's true.  " I spoke calmly.

" Wow!  Now I assume you won't come after me again.  You can't stop me.  My next target will be someone whom you know but you don't know much about that person" he stated getting up from his seat.

" I will avenge my brother's death.  I will see to it that every person who's related to you goes down.  Including your dear father " he said walking out of my cabin. 

I am really surprised he waited for me.  Does he really want to see me suffer? I might be looking calm but I know how to deal with people like him.  I have already lost one.  I can't lose anyone, especially my Aahana.  I dialed her number waiting for her to answer my call.

"Hello?? "she shouted over phone.  I could hear students bickering in the background.

" Hi this is Soham" I spoke.

" Listen I am in college.  Speak if it's important! " she shouted again.

" I want to meet you" I said looking at the file in my hand.

" Now?  I will call you after college.  Offo! I hate students!  I don't have my car.  Will inform you where we can meet" With that said she disconnected my call. 

I chuckled looking at my phone.  So irritated dealing with students when she acts like one.
