Chapter 33

SOHAM'S POV

She was sitting near window,  looking down on to the street.  There's constant smile on her face which made me smile too.  We didn't communicate much but we assured each other that we are indeed happy. 

" It's late,  won't you sleep? "I asked her. She turned and looked at me.

" I will just check on dad and come." With that said she left for dad's room. I felt content not because she accepted us , I felt happy that she is safe with me infront of my eyes. 

" You are going to marry her? " he asked me.

" Yes, I am.  " I replied. 

" I heard you handed my men over to police, I was wondering why didn't you make me arrest because I very well know that you will somehow gather proof against me.  " he spoke chuckling a bit.

" You will see that day too just show patience. Regarding your men,  I have no idea what you are talking about " I Replied. 

" You are scared that I might snatch away whatever you are left with that's the reason you are marrying her right? I tell you,  Nidhi was no one.  Just like me.  She was just a charity case for you.  I was going to send her to a better place where when she grows,  she doesn't need to feel that someone rich shot like you took her for adoption and raised her.  " he spoke making my anger boil.

" For someone who claimed to love your nonexistent brother,  I didn't know that was just a pretense of love. A person who claimed to love his brother, I didn't expect that you would ever have feelings in you.  It was wrong of me to think that you would understand how much a sibling means to you . How will you?  When you were not in this world to understand such a thing?  Own or not,  I have considered my Nidhi as my sister for life.  The thing that you will provide to Nidhi is called hell,  we normal humans call it child trafficking.  I will never let that happen with any child " I replied disconnecting his call.  Dhruv wanted to track his call but I stopped him. 

" What happened? " Aahu asked sitting beside me. 

" Nothing,  I just remember my mom" I lied smiling at her. 

" So did he call you again?  I mean the one who's threatening you about killing me? " she questioned suddenly.

" Aahana I-"

" I wanted to ask when he will do it.  I mean at some point we need to make this end. Don't you think he's being given too many warnings?  The person who killed your baby sister because of which your mom expired how could you just wait so patiently and be calm?  I might as well strangle him" she huffed looking angry. 

" I will end this soon " I said. 

" When?  " she questioned me looking straight into my eyes.

" Sometime soon.  For now please take a rest.  It's been a tiring day for you" With that said I left her alone in our room. 

" Dhruv? " I spoke as soon as he answered my call.

" What the hell man!?  You have gone extremely mad!  How can you not be with your wife tonight?  I am not talking with you tonight " he barked over the phone disconnecting my call.

Taking my keys, I went out. 

20 minutes. 

That's what it took me to come back home.  I was filled with guilt, anger,  and frustration.  Even though Aahana is my wife now,  I still don't have the guts in me to tell her.  Maybe part of me does not want to lose her after she knows the truth. 

Truth. 

If Mom was here,  she would have coaxed me to tell her everything.
I don't want to lose the person I love most in my life now.  My whole world is Aahana and Dad.

" Soham? " she called out from our room and I walked in wiping my tears. 

" Sorry,  I had to check on something "  I said smiling at her. 

" It's ok even if you leave me alone.  I won't complain.  It might be very strange for you, right? To have someone suddenly in your house and room now constantly " she said holding my hand.

" It isn't strange for you? " I questioned her.

" Not much.  I don't care what happens when I sleep you know.  Even if you snore I can't hear.  " she chuckled.  I hugged her from the side smiling at her.  I haven't talked with her for days. All this stress made me do it. 

" This can't be true!  " I was shocked to hell. 

" Are you sure sir? "  Dhruv asked holding papers in his hand. 

" I am not lying to you at all.  Gave you information on whatever I have.  I want you to help you genuinely Dhruv" he said shaking hands with him.

" Soham? " Dhruv called out sitting beside me.

" You have to tell her.  This can't be kept hidden now " he said.

" We are getting married in a week Dhruv! " I shouted on him.

" But you can't change the truth Soham. You can't always dodge or hide this" he said holding my hand. 

" What are you thinking?  What happened? " she asked me. 

" Are you happy?" I asked her. 

" Yes, I am.  Thank you" she replied.

" I need to tell you something " I said hoping this was not bad time to discuss the issue.

She nodded her head asking me to go on.

" He was my best friend.  Best of all.  I never expected that he would turn someone this cruel.  He has become like this now,  this is not him.  Someone instigated him to be like this. Bhargav was like a second son to my mom.  He wanted to join the navy as he was very fascinated with the sea and the ships on it.  But as we grew up,  I saw him change, and meet new people outside his college and our orphanage, not caring much about his behavior I still loved him the way he was.  Even when he left our orphanage that day,  I could feel I was losing him forever. " I said looking at her.

" He never took you as a friend. For him,  you were someone who was showing sympathy for him.  He never saw you as a friend Soham.  " she spoke wiping my tears. 

" I can gather proof against him.  But I want him to realize that I was not at fault.  It was completely self-defense!  His brother killed my sister,  I was saving other children.  In that attempt,  he attacked me and I had to shoot him.  But he was alive,  I swear to God, and my mom!  He shot himself after I told him the police were going to arrest both of us.  He didn't want Bhargav to get stuck up in this mess or reveal his identity.  If he dies, the police will think it's me.  After whatever he did to me and my life,  I don't Aahu,  I still want to prove to him that he was at fault and that whatever he had done was the biggest mistake of his life.  " I confessed hugging her tightly.

" Don't cry Soham,  your affection and friendship towards him is pure.  You just want your friend to be on the right path but why don't you get it Soham?  He chose whatever he wanted.  You can't make someone understand you,  even if they do,  you can't expect them to work on it.  People are different so are their thinking Soham.  " she consoled.

I stood there looking at her,  whatever she spoke was right.  I am involving myself emotionally. 

Tell her the truth Soham!
