Chapter 2- Sickness and Loss

Summer Jerked awake at two o'clock in the morning coughing up blood on her sleeve. She ran o the bathroom and locked the door. She coughed blood in the sink for the next five minutes.

Qrow woke up to her coughing in the bathroom and sat up looking at the door. He got up from the only queen sized bed in the room and walked over to the door as he Knocked on it, "Summer, are you okay?"

Summer took her bath towel and wiped the blood from her mouth. She then unlocked the door and opened it. Qrow saw the blood on her sleeve and she looked up at him. He spoke again, "Did you forget to take your medication again."

Summer shook her head, "I ran out two days ago. We've been out here on this mission for so long."

Qrow sighed, "In the next city, they have a pharmacy, what if we go there and get you more to last you the rest of the trip. How does that sound?"

"That sounds great," Summer replied. She smiled.

"Alright, come on to bed," Said Qrow. They both got back in bed, but stayed up a little more together. Later they went to sleep. When morning came, they got dressed and went down for breakfast. Later they went back on the road and walked through the woods on a path. Summer took out a necklace with a jewel shaped into a rose with it and threw it in a pond after the stopped for a break and they later got back on to the road. When they went into the next town. It was abandoned and deserted. Windows were smashed, buildings had been burnt, and things had been smashed. Something didn't feel right. The town appears to be empty, but wasn't because there was something lurking in the dark parts of this abandoned city. There was a rattling sound so Summer stopped and turned around. There was nothing behind her so she took out her weapon and kept walking. Qrow did the same thing.

Suddenly, the tower bell rang and the skies became dark. It began to rain so Summer and Qrow ran into an abandoned shop. They split up to check it out. Qrow went to the back and Summer went into the side room off of the shop. She found old pointe shoes, broken glass and a lot of wood shavings on the floor. There was a gun on the table and a broken jewelry box next to it. She lifted the top and there was a pocket watch inside surrounded by glass. All of the sudden it came open on it's own and Summer stepped back, but then came back over it when she saw something glowing in it. The glass box shattered and broke. The Blue ball shot into her and she put her hands on her heart and fell to the floor. She got up slowly and looked at the box. The pocket watch was no longer there so she checked herself. Nothing damaged. There was a roar from outside.

"SUMMER," she heard Qrow call from outside of the room, "WHAT WAS THAT?"

Summer ran out of the side room and into the area of the store to find Grimm surrounding the front of the store, "Um QROW, I think we have a PROBLEM."

Qrow ran out of one of the back rooms just as Summer took out her weapon. He stopped right next to her and did the same. The Beowulf jumped at Qrow and Summer Kicked it in the stomach. More of them came in and one after another, they slaughtered these creatures of Evil as they fought their way out of the empty abandoned shop. They finally get out of the shop and heard a scream. They ran towards the scream which came through an alleyway that led to the woods.

"HELP ME," the voice shrieked. It appeared to be a female calling for them. They ran into the woods where they heard the scream. They stopped dead in their tracks when the scream stopped. They were in the middle of a small open spot in the woods. They stood there looking around until Summer moved a couple steps forward. That's when a black bird rammed her into a tree. A shadow hit Qrow in the head. Summer kicked the Grimm bird in the stomach and ran around it, grabbing her weapon from the ground. She took a lot of shots at it, but it dogged and came at her. It spotted Qrow getting un and Went around Summer.

"NO," Summer Yelled. She zoomed past the bird, went in front of Qrow and cut it on the chest with the blade on her weapon, but it didn't stop. Qrow Quickly grabbed his sword off of the ground, but it was too late. The Bird had already put it's claws in Summer's stomach. Qrow cut off the Grimm's head and it turned to dust. Qrow caught Summer before she fell to the ground as blood spilled from her stomach.

He set her down on the ground, "No no no no. Summer. Summer no."

"It was nice while it... Lasted," Summer ried to reply. The pain was more than unbearable as she held her once clean hand to her wound.

"Summer NO, You're not leaving me. Not today," He said. He took out his scroll and pressed the emergency button. When someone answered, a tree branch above snapped and came down on him. Knocking him out. Summer then died, turning to white rose petals. They drifted off in the wind and never returned. The ambulance came and took Qrow to the hospital. No Summer. Just Qrow.
