RWBY The Summer Rose Series Book 1- Roses in Wonderland

Chapter 14- An Adventure

After three more hours of sleep, Everyone got up from their slumber to go to the outside patio to eat. Once everyone ate, Ruby and Nora went off to explore the castle until it was time to leave. Al they found were the usual rooms that you'd find in a normal house except with bigger square footage. In one of the rooms, Ruby and Nora found a piano and a guitar that sat on top of it in its case. There where photos on the walls of all of the rulers who had ruled the kingdom. Ruby caught sight of her reflection in something that lay beneath a blanket. She removed the blanket and saw a fragments and cracks in the part that showed her reflection. There was a piece of it missing and blood stains in the middle of where it appeared to be hit.

"What did you find Ruby," Nora asked as she came over. Nora then saw it.

"What do you think happened to this mirror, Nora," said Ruby, "It looks like someone punched it and took out one of the shattered pieces."

Nora then saw the missing piece, "You're right."

The noon bell rang and the girls then ran out, leaving the curtain open for anyone who came in the room to show. They ran down the hall and to the doors of the castle. Qrow turned to face them, "Where were you two?"

"Looking around," Nora replied, "We'll do more of it later."

"Okay," Qrow said nervously. They got int to carriage and off they went. They went to the mountains stopped halfway up the mountainside. They followed Summer up the mountain on foot the rest of the way until they saw the ruins of a castle.

Summer turned around, "This is It!"

"A ruined and abandoned building? Really," Qrow asked.

"It's not just ruined and abandoned, Qrow. This use to be a place of peace before The Queen of hearts came in and destroyed it. Later, Alice defeated one of her Jabberwockies here," Said Summer. She went up the broken steps of the place and stopped at the top looking down. The rest of the group followed her and looked down to see a sea of Jabberwocky eggs.

"Aren't jabberwockies bad," Ruby asked.

"Not all," Summer replied, "If you train one, it can be nice or evil. That's what the Red Queen did. She took a male egg and raised it to be horrible. She did the same thing with a bandersnatch. Me and The White Queen, however heard of her taking in eggs so we moved the Jabberwocky territory here. She doesn't know where they are now. When there is not any work to be done back at the palace, I come here and watch the eggs hatch and watch them fly beyond where The Endless Sea is. OH, there's one hatching right now!"

Summer pointed to the egg that was moving. It cracked for a couple of seconds and then broke and out came a baby jabberwocky. It wiped it's eyes and stood up, burping fire out of its mouth. It then flew away beyond The Endless Sea. Summer then again spoke, "They say the Endless Sea is Endless, when really there might be place for the Jabberwockies to settle and grow up. Very few of them come back to wonderland a year once they are all grown up. They are really just defensive creatures without training them. They are also harmless."

Everyone began to explore the place until lunchtime hit and they all went back to The Rose Kingdom. After lunch, the girls spent time in the study while the boys went into the town. Summer took Ruby and Nora to a volt deep with in the study.

"Where are we going mom," Ruby asked.

"I have something to show you two that no one has ever been shown to others in 500 years," replied Summer. When she opened the vault, there was a book in a tiny square shelf. Summer took it down from its place and put it on the desk of the study, "This book holds the history of the Rose family and the real power behind having silver eyes. You two must keep it a secret, Okay? A lot of people are after it."

Ruby and Nora Looked at each other and then back at the book. It was a brown book with gold and silver on the sides and a Rose gem in the middle of it. Same gem that Ruby wore around her neck ever since she came to wonderland. Ruby took it out from under her dress skirt and showed her mother the necklace as she looked at the two gems. Her mother's eyes widened. Summer's necklace. Ruby was holding it. This was bad. Really bad. SHe saw her mom's expression, "Mom... Are you okay?"

"Ruby... You... You have it?"

"I found it."

"So that's how you and your friends got here. I threw that away for a reason. This is bad. Very-"

"Why did you throw it away," Nora pitched in.

"I threw it away because it kept giving me and out team a lot of problems."

"What type of problems?"

"Medical and semblance use problems."

"WHAT? Dad never said you had medical problems," said Ruby.

"Tai hides certain things, Ruby," Summer replied to her daughter. Everything dawned on Ruby and she looked at the floor. Summer sighed and did the same, "I'm sorry."

Nora noticed that a gape had just formed in Ruby's mind. Summer then put her hand out at her daughter,"Just don't tell your uncle about this, okay? I'll keep it out of harm's way. You won't know how to use it. It's a very complicated weapon."

Ruby handed to her mother, "A Weapon?"

"Like I said. A complicated weapon. It is used to protect the kingdom from falling and collapsing in battle," Summer explained. All of the sudden, Maviaha and Anoosheeg came through the door. Summer quickly hide the book and necklace in the drawer next to her and shut it. Everyone turned to them.

"Your Highness," Said Maviaha, "The Red Queen. She's at the gates."

"What."

"She wants you to open up the gates. She wants to come in."

"Open the gates and let her in."

"But, my queen. She'll-"

"Let her in and bring her to the throne room. If she wants to talk with me, then we'll talk," said Summer. The Maids bowed and left to do as they were told. Summer then looked at Ruby and Nora, "I think you two should run along. I have something I need to deal with."

"Okay," Ruby replied. Summer took the book and necklace out from the drawer, placing it back into the tiny vault in the wall and shut the door. She put the painting down in front of it and the girls left.
