cannot overpower
to the point where i
wouldn't recognize
the scene
camphor almost covers
your smell
but the light from behind
reminds me
that you once flew
on wings, exquisite
too beautifully evolved
into the spin of a future
that could never
transcend your present
into the sad weight
of flight folded-in
tucked away tightly
the drag and fall
curling your edges
a hanging blur
in wind tunnel stillness
and into the spin
that the sweet
crush of earth
leans in
