It wasn’t, at all, how you saw your life panning out. You hadn’t expected to embark on a twisted love affair with an ancient spirit. You certainly hadn’t expected to fall pregnant with his child. It was an entirely odd and strange situation, yet, you were happy. You’d expected him to leave when you told him or get angry but… he was calm, happy almost.
The Nogitsune was not at all a gentle soul, he was chaotic, ruthless and yet, when with you, he showed the utmost care. That’s how you know his feelings were true. When you told him about your pregnancy, the gentleness heightened and so did the protectiveness.
Months flew by and he’d stuck by you, showing nothing but pure affection for you and your unborn child. You were worried about how he’d react to really becoming a father but with every tender moment, those worries slowly faded.
You groaned loudly as you gave another push, “Come on, dove, you can do it.” He breathed in your ear, as his hand squeezed yours. He loved pain and you were providing enough to fulfil his pain desire for weeks so he took your pain, making labour slightly more bearable.
“One more push!” The midwife grinned up at you, “One more, you can do it.”
You looked at him, looking for reassurance that you could do it. He pressed a tender kiss to your forehead, “You can do it, dove. You’re the strongest thing I’ve ever seen. One push and then our baby will be here. We’ll be a real family.”
You nodded before giving one last push and when you thought you couldn’t go on anymore, you heard the shrill scream of a baby; your baby.
Falling back, you smiled up at him as he let out a shocked breath of laughter, “You did it.” He whispered, pressing soft kisses to your knuckles as the nurses snipped the cord and hurried to weigh and clean the still crying baby, “You did it.”
It was only mere minutes later when the baby was placed in your arms by a smiling nurse, “You have a little daughter.”
Your eyes filled with tears as you cradled her close to you, “She looks like you.” He said from your side, watching with an awed smile, “Beautiful like you… Can I…”
“She is your daughter, after all.” You smirked as you handed her to him. Your head fell back onto your pillow, you were exhausted. But, it was worth it.
“I love you, my two little doves.” He whispered, pressing a kiss to your head and then your daughter’s head, “My two little doves who I will never let harm come to.”
It wasn’t the way you’d expected your life to go but you were happy. You were in love, you were loved, you had everything you ever wanted. He wasn’t who you expected to love and you weren’t who he expected to love but you came together and now, something beautiful had come from it and you knew that no matter what, you would stick together.
