Chapter 10: Ancient History.

After purifying the hellion nearby Elysia, Rias and the other decided to head back to Elysia to rest up before heading into the Rolance empire. Everyone decided to do their own thing before they left the following week.

Meanwhile at Rias's house...

"You really do care about Sophie, a lot. Don't you rias?" Lailah noticed as she saw sophie leaning on her mother while sound asleep

"Of course, she's my daughter, i have to do whatever i can to protect her." Rias explained

"I would certainly like to know who Sophie's father." Lailah asked curiously

"Sophie's... father?" Rias said to herself depressed

"Rias?" Lailah wondered

"That's ancient history i don't like talking about. The day he died was a dark day for me. It was like someone reached into my heart and ripped it out. It was like i lost everything that made me who i once was before becoming a lord of calamity." Rias answered lailah sadly

"Oh... i am sorry. I should not have asked." Lailah apologized depressed

"But if you really want to know, i'll tell you." Rias told Lailah

"Are you sure? I remember laphicet mentioning how you wanted to get away from your memories. Both the bad and good." Lailah asked concerned

"I know but, i'll make an exception. I mean, we're friends aren't we?" Rias answered

"You consider me your friend? Even when i told you to take your own life?" Lailah wondered

"Of course. I mean you were just doing your duty, i can't argue with that. To be honest when i was a lord of calamity, i wanted to end my life after getting Revenge for my nephew. Thought death was the only way of freeing myself from all this pain i had. Living was painful for me, and i wanted to die to escape it. If i didn't meet everyone that supported me in my last journey, i would have killed my self 7 years ago but if i did that, Sophie wouldn't be here right now." Rias told lailah.

"Oh..." lailah said uneasiness

"The world is cruel but it is also beautiful. I took the world for granted because i was only seeing one side of it." Rias stated

"The world can be a cruel place. I agree with your statement about the world being beautiful i mean." Lailah agreed

"Thanks Lailah." Rias thanked

"For what?" Lailah wondered

"For being there for me. Ever since i moved here, i've had barely any people on my side. When i moved into Elysia, the Seraphs here despised me and Laphicet, i hated it at first but then Mikleo allowed me to stay here. I owe him a lot and i owe my friends a lot as well. They stood by my side regardless." Rias explained

"Well, you are very welcome." Lailah assured kindly

The two laugh a bit

"Now do you mind telling me who Sophie's father is?" Lailah asked again while still giggling a bit

"Okay." Rias agreed while regaining her composure

Rias and lailah take a minute to calm down before rias told Lailah what she wanted to know. Once they calmed down, Rias shows Lailah the boosted gear on her left arm.

"Sophie's "father" wore this gauntlet. I met him 7 years ago, he found me in some old ruins while i was dormant. From what i heard, he tried to protect me from some monsters but i ended up saving him. I met up with some of his friends at a nearby town, after that i went with them to take a look at some ruins, then we went our separate ways, or so I thought. Apparently he followed me and swore an oath to protect me. We met up with his friends a day later and went to a town called Lunaris. While in Lunaris, something he said really touched my heart and i started having feelings for him, he felt the same way but was scared to confess them. So i waited but while waiting he accidental read a fight request from my cousin back when he was an exorcist. He was beaten mercilessly and when i saw him in the jaws of a lion, i was infuriated and almost killed my cousin. He survive luckily, then he told me why he avoid my confession to him a few days ago. A day later, i trained him on how to use a sword and in the end, he ended up mastering a mystic arte. I travelled with him and his friends till the end of my journey but then came that fateful day.." rias explained
