Chapter 22: sparring with an old acquaintance

After learning about Azazel's past, Rias and her group took the time to recover and train incase Azazel showed his face again. After a few days, Rias was fully recovered but instead of training, she spent a little time with Sophie because she hasn't been able to do that as of late. After that, rias got back to training and tried mastering the scale mails forms especially the custom armour. After a few days of training, rias decided to see Azazel's past with her own eyes, so she went to the monolith in the tower remains. After arriving, Rias put her hand on the monolith, causing her Iris gem to glow along with the monolith and show rias the past. The monolith and Iris stop glowing after showing rias the end of the past events.

"Rossweisse was right but still, he needs to be put down." Rias thought to herself.

(Footsteps.)

"Huh?" Rias wondered

Rias looks towards the entrance and sees a familiar face.

"Its... its you." Rias noticed

"..." he remained

5 minutes later...

"So tell me, lord of calamity, what brings you to glenwood?" He asked sternly

"I wanted a fresh start. I needed to get away from my memories. The good and bad." Rias answered

"You in other words you ran away." He said sternly

"Who said i ran away?" Rias questioned defensively

"You did. From what i heard, it sounded like you were trying to run away." He said sternly

"I didn't-... no you're probably right. I guess i did run away in way. I wanted to run away from my memories but the truth is that they'll always be a part of me." Rias denied before realizing something.

"Is that your only reason for coming here?" He asked

"No. I wanted some place quiet for me to raise my child. Xinall can be quiet at times but for some reason leaving felt like a good idea to me. I think it's because i've lost purpose in my life i guess." Rias answered depressed

"I see." He said with understanding.

"Also it's not lord of calamity anymore, Baraqiel. It's Shepard." Rias corrected

"Shepard? How interesting to think someone like you would become a shepard. How is it possible?" Baraqiel wondered

"Laphicet or Maotelus, purified me but due to the exposure of malevolence in a crucible, my claw came back and is here to stay." Rias explained

"So you have that yet you generate no malevolence?" Baraqiel wondered

"Yes." Rias confirmed

"So how long have you been living her?" Baraqiel asked curiously

"About 7 years." Rias answered

"I see." He said with understanding

A few minutes later...

"You and my daughter are friends right?" He asked curiously

"On my part, yes. I think we're friends but i'm not so sure she feels the same way." Rias answered unsure

"How is she lately?" He asked curiously

"She's doing fine. She helps one of my friends with the baby she's caring for." Rias answered

"Baby?" He wondered confused

"The mother of the baby died, so one of my friends decided to take care of it in her place." Rias explained
