Chapter 35

I rushed out the car to see an ambulance and police car on the drive. I ran out the car and towards the door.

"Miss I'm sorry you can't go in there" a police man said holding up his arm in front of me.

"I live here" I said quickly trying not to cry.

"I'm sorry but you can't enter the house miss" he said once again frustrating me even more.

"Fucks sake" I muttered hoping he wouldn't hear me and I pulled out my phone.

"Chloe!" I looked up and saw Brad run out from the ambulance.

I ran over to him and he instantly hugged me as I cried into his shoulder.

"Where is Tristan?" I breathed trying to keep calm.

FAIL.

"In the ambulance. Do you want to go in there?" He asked kissing my forehead.

I just nodded and opened the ambulance door to reveal Tristan talking to someone in a weird green jacket thing. I looked over and saw mum laying lifeless on what looked like a very uncomfortable bed.

She had wired wires and things all over her and what I dreaded most, a heart monitor.

I looked at beat of her heart and it was slow.

Real

Slow.

Stay strong Chloe.

Stay strong.

I jumped out if my skin when Tristan's arms made there way around me and hugged me till I could hardly breath.

"It's okay, everything will be okay" I whispered trying to reassure him, and myself.

"It just happened, I'm so sorry" he cried making me burst into tears.

"It's okay Tristan, it's not your fault" I cried not knowing how to feel.

------///------

"Would you like a drink?" The nurse asked softly pleasing a light hand on my shoulder.

"No, Thankyou" I croaked out not looking at her or anything apart from the white bed sheets that lay over mum.

It's been a week.

I have no idea how I feel.

I have missed my core science exam and my core English.

Exams that I can't retake.

Mum has cancer in the lungs.

Apparently she has had it for the last 6 months.

Me and Tristan had no idea.

---------

"It was the cancer in her lungs that caused the attack to strike" the doctor said sadly.

Me and Tristan both looked at each other, jaws to the floor.

"Cancer?" Tristan asked in shock.

"Didn't you know?" The doctor asked surprised.

"No" I whispered feeling even shittier then before, if that's possible.

"Ohmygod I'm so sorry" the doctor said rubbing his forehead. "It's been there for about six months so I thought you would have known."

Tristan hugged me and told me it's okay, but both knew it really wasn't.

"We suspected that she had a year left, but it seems to have spread a lot quicker then we thought."

What the hell does that mean?

The doctor seemed confused and disappointed as if he should have known better.

There was that one question that we both wanted to ask but we were both too scared to hear the answer.

"How long does she have left?" I asked in barely a whisper.

"A week at the most" he said sadly.

"This can't be real!" I sort if screamed. "I have already lost dad and now mum? What's the point" I cried making Tristan look upset while he calmed me.

"But she has never smoked" Tristan pointed out making me think the same.

"Lung cancer is not always caused by smoking Mr Evans, the attack can be lead on from stress or worry to a change in her normal routine" he told us.

"I bet it was that fuc-"

"Tristan don't" I warned trying not to create a scene.

"If that asshole made this happen I swear-"

"Tristan please" I begged tugging at his sleeve.

"Im going to kill him"

By now Tristan had started crying which made me start again too.

"I'll leave you two for a moment" the doctor said patting Tristan's shoulder.

We both stood in the middle if the busy corridor in each other's embrace forgetting everything around us.

"What are me going to do?" I whispered.

"I don't know, but you can't stay with me, it's too unpredictable with my job" he said sadly making me hug him tighter.

"I don't want foster parents" just thinking about it made me feel sick.

"I know but it's best" he was trying to find the lighter side if things, I know it, but it wasn't working.

I sighed taking a sharp intake of breath.

"I don't want to talk about it Tristan" a single tear slipped from my eye as I pulled away.

"Okay, but just please don't dwell on it?" He asked making me nod.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

(A/N - I added a gif of Chloe so you know what she looks like. I kind if picture her as Hayden Panettiere. Also comment something to make me smile :) xx)
