Chapter 2

Emilio Joaquin Rivera II or EJ as he is fondly called, 32 years of age. Born October 15, at New York City, USA. He is the only son of former international beauty queen turned award-winning actress, Charisse Anne Walters, and Civil Engineer, film director turned multi-billionaire business mogul Emilio Joaquin Rivera I. His mother is half Filipina, half American while his father is half Filipino, half Spanish. He has a younger sister named Angel Cryzel Rivera. She is a world-renowned fashion designer and interior designer. Her boutiques and firms are well known not only locally but also internationally. Angel lives in San Vicente- a city near Garapan with her husband and twin kids.

His father established a multi-billion dollar business empire from his earnings when he was still an Engineer and film director. It is expected that JM would inherit the empire. He graduated from a prestigious university in New York City and took Secondary Education. He also got his Masters degree and Ph.D. at the same university.  He also took up a Bachelor of Business Management and also got his MBA when he was still in New York while working for his father's company.

It was just last week that his family decided to stay at their ancestral home at Garapan, Midea due to his paternal grandfather's wish. His grandfather was in his late 90's and is still healthy but wanted his family to stay with him.

EJ didn't want to be stuck in the house so he applied for a teaching job at the nearest Public School System and received a call from her Tita Martha, his dad's younger sister. His Tita is a principal of one of the middle schools in their city.

"EJ! Are you really back for good?" He can sense his Tita's excitement through the phone. His Tita Martha is his favorite among his Aunts whether his maternal or paternal side.

"Yes Tita. It was Lolo's wish that we come back here at Garapan."

"I'm glad to hear that! By the way I saw your name at the list that the district sent out today. You're looking for a job?"

"Yes Tita! I don't want to stay here at the mansion doing nothing. I really want to teach."

"You still don't want to run your father's company."

"You know why Tita. I really love to teach. Even though I took business courses and I have my MBA. I still prefer teaching kids with special needs."

"I understand. Well, I have an opening here at my school. I actually need a partner for my Resource Room teacher. Would you want to apply for it?"

He felt excited. Teaching was really his passion.

"Sure Tita! I'll gladly accept your offer!"

"I'm glad you accepted it. Well, I'll call the district's HR Office to process your documents and contract. I'll see you then tomorrow for your orientation."

"Thanks Tita! I'll see you tomorrow then! Please say hi to Tito Manuel, Cassandra and Denver for me."

"Will do EJ, will do."

The next morning, he woke up early and told his parents that he will be going to his job interview with his Tita Martha. His Tita is his father's youngest sister and his Tito Manuel is his mother's cousin.

His parents allowed him to do whatever he wanted as long as if when the time comes that he needs to run the family business he will be committed to running the company. He was a well-known player. He didn't commit himself to any serious relationship when he was in New York. He had flings, and casual one night stands with famous artists, singers, socialites and more. He was a well-known personality with quite a reputation when it comes to the opposite sex.

Half an hour later, EJ arrived at the school where his Tita Martha is supervising. He came out of his red Mercedes Benz A-Class Sports Sedan and walked to the school office building and asked the staff that was stationed there.

"Good morning, I have an appointment with Ms. Martha Parker."

"May I know who is it? and please log in on the visitor's logbook. Thank you." The administrative staff handed him a pen and the logbook where he needed to write his name.

"It's EJ Rivera. The applicant for the new Special Education Teacher." He told the staff personnel his name and she knocked on a door behind her.

"Excuse me, Mrs. Parker, Mr. Rivera is here to see you."

"Please send him in."

The administrative staff guided him to his Tita's office.

When he opened the door he saw a beautiful lady seated in front of his Tita's desk. She had this messy hair look and was wearing a blue knee-length dress with a thin red belt paired with white slip-on shoes. He took the seat parallel to the beautiful lady and his Tita introduced him to her.

"Nice meeting you Ms. Lopez. I hope to gain knowledge from you."

He extended his hand for a shake. She accepted it and shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you too Mr. Rivera."

"The both of you may go to the Resource Room. Ms. Lopez, I trust you that you will do all the necessary procedures for him to know the students."

"Yes Mrs. Parker." Kristine smiled and nodded at her principal.

"Mr. Rivera, see me a few minutes before the school ends. I need you to sign some papers that will be for both Human Resource and School files." His Tita Matha reminded him.

"Yes, Mrs. Parker."

His Tita dismissed them and they started to walk to the Resource Room. As soon as they step out of the office Kristine toured him around the campus and showed him some of the facilities that the campus has.
