i whispered"It was bright and early in the morning and I was well rested. I sat myself at the counter in my shared apartment and drank my coffee. I felt the floor begin to shake and then my roommates came running into the kitchen.
"I beat you!" My brother, Tanner shouted at his best friend Cameron.
"No you didn't." Cameron rolled his eyes.
I rolled my eyes at the two as they continued to argue and then spoke up. "Come eat you idiots. I made food." I told them.
Tanner looked at me and smiled. "Thanks, Owen." I forced a smile back at him, then looked at Cameron expectantly. Tanner noticed this and smacked him in the back of the head. "Take a breath from the food you're shoving down your throat and thank my brother, block head."
Cameron looked at me. "Oh thanks, Owen. It's very good."
I nodded. I had known Cameron since I was ten. My brother brought him home one day and said he was his new friend. That turned into best friend and now 6 years later we all three live together. My brother became my legal guardian after our mother died from heart failure. I told him that he didn't have to. I knew him juggling school and trying to care for me would be a lot to handle, but he wouldn't stop fighting for me.
It was a long process, but it all worked out in the end.
"Aren't you going to school today?" Tanner turned to me, taking a sip of his orange juice.
"It's a teacher work day. Thank god." I said with a breath of relief. "I'm gonna go down to the record store."
"Okay..." He trailed off. "You better not be lying." He said sternly.
I got up and went behind him to put him in a headlock. "I would never." I jammed my fist into his hair and rubbed it in.
"Watch the hair." He swatted me away. Cameron and I laughed at Tanner as he fixed his hair.
"Bye." I waved and headed out the door. I got on my bike and made my way down the street. We lived close to the main town of Oakwood, so it didn't take long for me to get to the record store. I locked my bike up in a random bike rack and made my way in.
It was the best thing to have enough money saved up to buy a new record. I had been saving spare change for two weeks to buy the Arctic Monkeys - AM record. I looked around the store, eyes wide, and smiled when I walked in.
