𝕥 𝕖 𝕟Myra had a van that had seven seats. I ended up sitting in the very back with Charlotte and the whole time she kept glancing at me. It made me feel awkward, but I didn't hate it.
"I invited Kai and his friends to come hang." Rose said. My eyebrows raised and then furrowed. Since when does she hangout with them? The popular people. They were mostly assholes and some of them were alright, but Austin and Kai were the worst of them.
"That's fine. As long as they don't tear up my house." Myra shrugged.
Charlotte seemed to notice my confused expression and leaned over to my ear. "Rose and Kai have been hooking up since last summer." She whispered to me so no one else heard. My stomach felt weird and I instantly realized the feeling was jealousy.
"Makes sense." I shrugged. But that was a lie because it didn't to me. I'd never heard anyone talk about them two being a thing, and I was shocked Rose never mentioned it herself. But I knew if Kai was going to be there, Austin would be too. I was alright with it, because I can't tell them who to hangout with, but I knew tonight would be something else.
We got to Myra's house and ended up in her basement, sitting in a circle on the floor. Rose crawled across the floor to a box that was put discreetly under a bean bag chair. She opened it and it contained a bag of weed. I forgot about the smoking weed part.
"Aye! We smoking some banyan?" I heard a voice from behind me and when I turned around I saw five people coming down the steps. Kai Harris was carrying two 24 packs of beer. Austin was giving me a look and I gulped. Jessica was the stoner cheerleader, she was alright. Another girl Hailey had her arm wrapped around Austin. Then, there was this guy Demetrie. He and I used to be best friends in elementary school. We fell off, but even so we still were cool with each other.
Kai walked over to Rose and bent down to give her a kiss. I turned away and caught Charlotte's gaze. She furrowed her eyebrows at me and mouthed 'are you okay?'
'Yeah.' I mouthed back nodding. 'Headache.' I pointed to my head did some weird gesture and she giggled.
"Come sit over here." She said while everyone else had conversations and got settled in. I pushed myself up off the floor and walked over to her, plopping down beside her. She grabbed my hand and smiled at me.
"So who wants a drink?" Kai asked all of us. His eyes landed on me and he looked confused. Then his eyes drifted to Casey and Logan. "Who are these guys?" He asked nobody in particular. I squeezed Charlotte's hand anxious at what was about to happen.
"They're my friends." Rose said smiling at me, but then she looked between me and Charlotte and her face fell. "I invited them." I could here a slight attitude in her voice. What was her problem?
Kai shrugged and plopped down beside her. "Let's get fucked up." He yelled pulling Rose closer to him.
-
"Are you drunk?" Charlotte asked me and I looked at her, with my eyes half closed and started laughing.
"Nope." I said popping the "p".
"You're so cute." She giggled. We were all getting along shockingly, but Rose wasn't talking to me at all. I just shrugged it off and talked with Charlotte and the boys. She was different than I imagined and I found myself liking her a lot more than I anticipated. Austin was still being an asshole though. He'd make comments about me every once in a while and I just tried to ignore it. Charlotte was the one to tell him off this time and I appreciated it, but it hurt to see Rose so invested in Kai that she didn't even come to my defense.
I looked to my right and saw Austin walking out of the room, then somehow got the courage to go after him.
"I'll be right back." I said to Charlotte.
I got up and went after him. He was right at the entrance to the bathroom and I called out to him. "Why do you have an issue with me?" I asked him. My voice was slurred and I knew after 6 beers I was long gone. He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.
"I don't have to have a reason, I just don't like you." He shrugged and opened the bathroom door.
"That's so ridiculous." I said, my voice slightly raising.
"Will you cool it?" He grabbed my arm and pulled me into the bathroom. I was drunk and a little high, so I didn't think anything of it. If I was sober I would have been very confused and probably have pulled away or never even come up here in the first place.
"Then tell me why you hate me so much." I crossed my arms and raised my eyebrows.
He huffed and ran a hand through his hair. We stood there for at least five minutes and he was tapping his foot repeatedly as if he was nervous. He was fumbling with a frayed piece on his pants and I just stood there, looking around.
"I don't hate you Owen." He said my name with annoyance in his voice.
Then, it all happened so fast I couldn't comprehend it. He grabbed me and planted straight lips on me. I just stood there not moving. I was shocked and confused. He tried to get me to kiss him back, but I just stood there not knowing what to do. I was pretty sure I liked girls and girls only. He pulled away slowly and his eyes opened.
"I-I'm not gay." I said, my voice slurring and shaking because I was nervous.
"I am." He said.
"Okay." I nodded.
He pushed past me and left the bathroom. I stood there sort of confused at what had just happened. I'd never kissed a guy and I oddly didn't mind it, but also wasn't too sure if I would do it again. Austin's revelation was a shock to hear from him, but I wasn't going to tell anyone.
It wasn't my story to tell.
