Several hours had passed and Ivan had still not heard from his older sister. It had been almost a full day and, to be frank, he was extremely worried. He paced around the living room while Yao sat on the couch, trying to get him to calm down. This did the exact opposite, though. It made Ivan pace faster and continue to run his fingers through his platinum blonde hair.
"Ivan, please sit down at least, aru..." Yao begs; concern laces his voice and pitiful eyes. His Russian lover, however, does not notice this.
"I-I can't, podsulnukh. I don't know w-where Katyusha is-" He stammers. He was speaking so fast he stumbled over his own words.
"Ivan..."
"I-"
"Ivan!"
He was taken aback by Yao raising his voice, so much so that he abruptly stopped moving. His eyes met Yao's worried ones. He sighs and sits down next to Yao, his hands remain fidgeting.
Yao places a hand on his shoulder. "We'll find her, aru." Yao assures.
"Da, but in what state?" Ivan asks, making Yao go quiet.
"Do...do not think of such things, aru."
"It's impossible to not think of the possibility, Yao. With everything that's been going on recently, it is only natural to assume the worst." He sneers. This only earns a cringe from Yao.
The Chinese man turns his head to avoid looking at Ivan. They sit in silence for a few minutes, the sound of their own breathing is the only noise they hear.
"I know it's hard, aru...I understand where you are coming from. As hard as it is, we must keep pushing forward and hope for the best..." Yao spoke. He fiddles with his ponytail. "It's what she would want, aru. It's...what..." His voice cracks in sadness. "It's what Francis would want, aru..."
Ivan looks up. He takes Yao's hand in his. Not trusting his voice, he looks into his lover's amber eyes.
Yao places his forehead on Ivan's, caressing his cheek with his free hand. "Everything will be alright..."
"I hope so..." Ivan says softly. He trusted Yao with his eyes closed.
"Oh, Mr. China! You're here!" Latvia smiles brightly upon seeing the southern nation.
"Hello, aru! Have you been doing well, Latvia?" He asks.
"Yup! Can I get you anything?"
Yao thinks for a moment. "Just some tea, it doesn't matter which kind!"
He sees the Latvian nod with a smile and quickly run off. It reminded him of when Raivis was just a little nation he took care of.
Ivan smiles and leans against Yao. "You're so wonderful, podsulnukh..."

*╚═══❖•ೋ° °ೋ•❖═══╝*It was dark outside, around midnight when Ivan went to get some fresh air. He didn't usually say up too late, but he felt restless. Katyusha still hadn't come home and he was close to getting the police involved. On the bright side, in his bed was Yao sleeping peacefully.
Ivan was in the front room when he heard a knock at the door.
Who could be out this late?
He opens the large doors and a wave of shock, relief, and sadness wash over him.
"I'm home..."
Ivan takes his big sister into his arms, embracing her tightly. Tears drip down his face. "Katyusha..."
