8.No Strings Attached

Aditya wiped his tears and stumbled back to the ward where Mri was sleeping peacefully. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead gently. He thought "I think I care for you too much. So much , that I can put yourself in danger. Ab wakt aa gya hai ek faisla lene ka."
He ordered the nurse to take care if Mri for a few hours after which he would be back. He got into his car and drive home. He went in and called out to his father. His dad came downstairs with a worried look and said "Adi tum itni raat tak kahan the aur Mrinalini kahan hai ?"
Aditya ignored his question and said "Mujhe shaadi karni hai.'
Harsh said "Kya ? Achanak se? Sab kuch theek hai na Adi?'
Aditya told him what had happened today in brief and Harhshwardhan gasped and said "Mri theek toh hai na ?"
Aditya said "Haan theek hai voh. Lekin meri bewakoofi ki wajah se theek na bhi ho sakti thi. Papa , meri kamzori hai Mri jaise Pooja thi. Aur jab jab mujhe yeh ehsaas hota hai ki meri kamzoriyon ke paas mere alawa aur koi nhi hai main toot jata hoon. Pooja ke saath bhi yehi hua tha. Jab mujhe laga ki mere alawa use koi nhi bacha paayega main bikhar gya aur uski jaan chali gyi aur aaj Mri ke saath bhi yehi hua. Mujhe pata hai Mri ke pass mere alawa koi nhi jo use pyaar karega , jo uski dekhbhaal karega. Isliye mujhe koi chaiye jo Mri ke liye ho. Taaki Mri ke saath mera wakt kam ho jaaye aur mera uske saath itna attachment na ho ki main usko maut ke mooh mein se bahar na laa paoon kabhi."
Harshwardhan gave an incredible look to Aditya and said "Yeh kya bol rhe ho tum? Yeh koi wajah hai shaadi karne ke liye? Dimag kharab ho gya hai kya tumhara? Apne dar ki wajah se khud ke aur kisi aur ke jeevan ke saath kheloge? Aur attachment aise hi khatam ho jaayega kya Aditya kisi ke aane se ? Pagalon jaisi baat mat karo Aditya. Shaadi karni hai toh apne liye karo , aise behude wajah ke liye nhi. Isse sirf tum apni nhi , balki apni hone wali biwi aur ek hadh tak Mri ki zindagi ke saath khilwaadh kar rhe ho."
Aditya said "Papa aap samajh nhi rhe ho. Mujhe Mri ke dekhbhaal ke liye koi chaiye mere alawa. Jispe main bharosa karke use akela chod sakta hoon. Jab tak Pooja thi , tab tak mujhe Mri ki utni chinta nhi hoti thi lekin ab uske liye mera pyaar pagalpan ban jaata hai. Mujhe koi chaiye jo uski zimmedaari le taaki main thoda sa sambhal jaaon."
Harsh said "Are you even listening to yourself? You don't make sense."
Aditya raised his hand and said "Mujhe is baat pe koi behas nhi chaiye. Mri needs a mother and a care taker and if I need to marry for that reason I will do so."
Harsh said "Aur pyaar ?"
Aditya scoffed and said "Pyaar se bada dhokebaaz ehsaas is dunia mein nhi ho sakta aur mujhe dhoke ache nhi lagta. Aap uss ladki ko ek baat samjha dijiyega , yeh shaadi ek deal hai bas. Usko iss shaadi se pyaar ki ummeed nhi rakhni chaiye."
Harsh said "Aisa sunkar kaun karega tumse shaadi?'
Aditya said "Aap dhoodenge. And I give you one week for that. By the end of this week I want this deal to close."
With that he walked away and Harsh was left stumped.
He thought "Jis ladki se main tumhari shaadi karana chahta hoon voh sirf aur sirf pyaar deserve karti hai aur tum vohi nhi dena chahte use. Lekin ek baat toh tay hai voh Mri ke dekhbhaal ke liye sabse sahi choice hai aur upar se voh bhi doctor hai. Shayad vohi Aditya ko badal de aur use pyaar karna sikhaye."
He took out his cell phone and dialed a number and the phone rang.

On the other side Zoya reached home and heard her father saying "Toh main yeh rishta pakka samjhoon?.. Pause... Mujhe bohot khushi hai ki the dosti rishtedaari mein badal gyi... Pause.. Jaise aapki icha hogi usi tarah karayenge Nikaah... Pause...Ummeed karta hoon Zoya aapke parivaar ko voh khushiyaan de jo voh humein nhi de paai..."
And that's when she stopped listening and went upstairs.

The Next Morning
Zoya had her files in her hand and was in the lift when the lift door opened and she faced Aditya. He looked at her and then looked away. Zoya said nothing.
The tension in the lift was palpable. Aditya looked at Zoya from the corner of his eyes. He was embarrassed by yesterday's breakdown yet wanted to thank her for curing Mri when he wasn't there but his hatred for her hadn't yet subsided. It was a turmoil of emotions inside him. Zoya recalled last night's events and saw Aditya in a very different light today. She found him broken, miserable yet dangerous. She couldn't related his tears , the scalpel she saw last night and the Aditya Hooda she had seen for the past few days together. She was confused as to what to believe and what not to. The lift door opened and as Aditya stepped out, he muttered without looking at Zoya "Thank you" and went. Zoya shook her head in disbelief and said "Inke jaisa shaks humne apni zindagi mein kabhi nhi dekha. Inhe samajhne se pehle hum quantum physics samajh jaayenge."
With that she went to her work station. That day she and other interns had to go on a round in the ICU to check on the patients with Aditya. She was dreading this as she thought Aditya might again taunt her. But surprisingly the day passed uneventfully. Zoya was happy with the peace.
Aditya reached home to have lunch and pack some for Mri that day and Harshwardhan said "Ladki dhoondh li hai tumhare liye."
Aditya said "Toh shaadi ki tyaari shuru kijie. Isi hafte yeh sab nipat jana chaiye."
Harsh said "Uska naam nhi jaan na chahte ho aur use dekh toh lo ek baar."
Aditya said "Jab rishta hi ajnabiyon jaisa rakhna hai toh naam ka kya karoonga. Shaadi ke baad roz usi ki shakal dekhni hai aur uska naam bhi. Abhi jaankar koi faayeda nhi hai mera. Aur aapne use samjha diya hai na ki humari shaadi kyun ho rhi hai?"
Harsh said "Haan . Voh Mri ke liye perfect hai aur tumhare liye bhi."
Aditya left . Harsh thought "Zoya , dua karta hoon ki tum khud khush raho aur Adi ke andar bhi khushiyaan bhar do. Ab toh tumhare jaisa farishta hi kuch kar sakta hai.
