Alexandria Anderson

It took us an hour and a half to get back to their house and when we did, I walk to the kitchen area and lay down on the sofa. As I slowly drift to sleep, I feel someone sit on the edge of the sofa and tuck my hair behind my ear.

   “Alexandria.” he softly says.

“Hm?” I ask whilst my eyes still shut.

“Let’s go upstairs, just sleep on my bed.” he takes my hand in his hand and draws circles on it.

“Okay.” I simply reply, but I still didn’t stir.

“Alexandria, come on.” he laughs as he gently squeezes my hand.

I slowly open my eyes and Rye helps me sit up, smiling as he looks at me.

“Why are you smiling?” I ask groggily.

“Nothing, you just look beautiful.” he chuckles.

I just look at him blankly, but my lips soon turn into a smile. I get up from the sofa whilst Rye puts his arm around my waist as the two of us make our way upstairs to his room.

“I already have the movie that you wanna watch, we could watch it tonight if you want.” he says.

“Aren’t you tired yet?” I look at him, furrowing my eyebrows.

“Well, to be honest, I am kinda tired already, but I want to make it up to you since I was so busy today, we didn’t get to talk to each other that much.” he sheepishly says.

A small smile tugs at the corners of my lips, I thought he didn’t care.

“It’s okay, the movie can wait.” I assure him. “If you’re already tired, then go to sleep already.”

“Nah, I am okay, as if I am not used to staying up late.” he walks over to the television and starts to set up the movie.

“I’ll just take a quick shower.” I tie my hair into a messy bun and take a set of pajamas from my bag at the corner of his room and head out to the bathroom.

After a couple minutes, I turn the shower off and put on the pajamas that I brought with me and walk back to Rye’s room. He isn’t there though, he must have left to look for some food that we can eat whilst watching the movie. Later on, I hear running footsteps coming into the room and he immediately stops on his track when he saw me.

“Oh, hi, sorry to keep you waiting, I got caught up talking to Ella.” he sheepishly says. “Anyways, I got us chips.” he enthusiastically says and sits down next to me, handing me the sour cream and onion flavored Lay’s.

“Thank you.” I weakly smile and open it from the top and share it with him.

He hands me a can of root beer, which is my favorite whilst he opens another chips and offers it to me. In the midst of the movie, we hear a knock on the door.

“Sorry to interrupt, but can I talk to you, Rye?” it’s Ella again.

Rye pauses the movie and looks over at her, “Can’t it wait?”

“Uh, I just have something to ask, it won’t take long, I promise.” she replies.

Rye looks at me as though asking for my permission.

“Go ahead.” I urge him, as if I can say no.

“Okay, I’ll be back right away.” he smiles and quickly kisses me on the cheek, before leaving the room.

I sigh, as I sit back and continue eating. Minutes had past, but he still haven’t came back. I was about to fall asleep, when I hear the door open and feel someone sit on the floor in front of where I am currently laying. I am too sleepy to look at the person, but I think I hear him whisper I am sorry whilst letting out a breath just before I completely fall asleep.

My eyes flutter open and the first thing – or should I say person – that I saw is Rye. We are only inches apart, as I lay down next to him with my head on his arm whilst his other arm is around my waist. Slowly, I pull away from him and take the blanket off of me and carefully make my way to the stairs at the side. I go downstairs and into the kitchen, where I see Mikey sitting on the counter stool.

“Alexa,” he utters in surprise when he saw me, turning on his stool. “why are you up so early?”

“I could ask you the same thing.” I chuckle, taking the kettle from the counter and filling it with water.

“Well, I got hungry so..” he replies.

Turning the kettle on, I take a mug from the cupboard and start to make myself a tea.

“You want some tea?” I ask him.

“I am good, thank you.” he smiles, getting up from his stool and puts the plate into the sink.

“Mikey, I have a question that I wanna to ask you.” I reluctantly say.

“What is it?” he asks, glancing at me.

“You have known Rye the longest so you probably know him better than any of us.” I look down at my hands and fumble with my fingers.

“Just say it, Alexandria.” he says with a light chuckle.

“Well, uh, do you think Rye’s serious?” I ask.

Mikey stops what he was doing and looks at me, “What do you mean?”

“N–nevermind.” I stutter out, quickly turning at the kettle and turning it off.

“Alexandria, you can tell me anything.” he says.

“Forget about it, Mikey.” I pour the hot water into the mug. “I’ll be at the field.”

“O–okay.” he replies whilst I walk out to the back and start to walk down the massive field.

Just before I reach the court, I carefully sit down on the grass and just look at the horizon; the sun’s just about to rise with blue and orange ombré.

“I knew I’d find you here.” a voice speaks up.

Rye sits down next to me and smiles at me a little.

“I am kinda surprised to see that you aren’t on the bed anymore.” he says, looking at me.

“Sorry.” I mutter without looking at him, I continue to drink the tea and try my best to finish it as fast as possible.

“We’re going out later, wanna come?” he changes the subject.

I shake my head and reply in a flat tone, “I might go back to Manchester later.”

“Huh?” he asks, shifting on his seat to face me. “But I thought you’ll be staying till Friday.”

“I’ll think about it, besides you seem busy anyways so I’ll just head back home.” I bluntly say, standing up.

“Wait,” he grabs my wrist. “are you okay?”

I nod, pulling my hand away and continue to walk back to the house.
