Alexandria Anderson

We cross the street, walking past the park and into the building where their flat is. We go up the stairs and stop by a door with a number 64 on it, where the number 4 is upside down. Andy was about to knock, but he stops and looks over at me.

“You alright?” he asks, looking at me in concern.

“I am just a little nervous, but I am okay.” I force a small smile.

“Don’t worry, the others are still out so it’s just Brad and the two of us.” he states.

I didn’t say anything, I just nod and he smiles at me before knocking on the door. After a few knocks, a boy with blonde hair answers the door; he looks at me and smiles.

“You must be Alexa.” he says and I just nod, curious as to how he knew who I am, but I am certain that it’s because of Andy.

Andy laughs and I look at him, “I told you, she’s really shy.” I catch him mouthing to him and looks at me.

“I am Brad and it’s okay, don’t be shy.” he says and just like what I did minutes ago, I just nod. “Well, it’s nice to meet you.” he adds.

“It’s nice to meet you too.” I reply, smiling a little.

“Why don’t we just talk inside?” Andy asks, already walking inside their flat.

Brad moves at the side of the door to let me in first, I thank him as I walk past him and follow Andy into their bedroom. I am just standing at their doorway, as Andy picks up some stuffs on the floor and hides it under the blanket.

“We are so sorry about the mess.” Andy sheepishly says, as he turns back at me.

“It’s alright, Andy.” I reply with a smile.

Andy takes a seat on the sofa in the middle of the room and picks up the Xbox controller from the coffee table. He turns the TV on and the console, before he sits back on his seat.

“You can take a seat.” Brad says to me, laughing.

I sheepishly smile, as I walk towards the sofa and take a seat. Brad walks out of the room and when he came back, he hands me a bag of chips.

“Oh, I am okay, thank you.” I smile, awkwardly waving my hands.

“Are you on a diet?” Andy asks, still looking at the TV.

“No.” I chuckle and he looks at me.

Andy didn’t say anything, he just looks at me as if saying I don’t believe you and I just smile at him. Brad plops down on the sofa across from me and takes his phone next to him, as he starts to eat. We are just quiet for a few minutes, until Brad speaks up.

“Rye and Cam are on their way back.” he says to Andy.

“Well, they better hurry up so we can have fun at the castle later.” Andy replies.

Brad nods and types something on his phone, whilst Andy pauses the game and looks at me.

“You want to play Fifa?” he asks.

“I don’t really play Fifa,” I reply honestly. “in fact I haven’t tried it before.”

  “Are you serious?” he deadpans.

“You know very well that I am not very fond of video games.” I say.

“Right, I forgot.” he laughs and turns to Brad. “What about you?”

Brad nods, so Andy tosses him the other controller and the two of them start to play. After a couple minutes, we hear a knock on the door and Andy pauses their game.

“I’ll get it.” Brad says, getting up from his seat and runs to the door; jumping across a few things scattered on the floor.

Andy turns to me and raises his thumb up to ask if I am okay, I just nod and look down on the floor. I hear indistinct chats from the hallway, then it becomes quiet. Andy stands up from his seat and walks out of the room, going into the hallway. After a few minutes, Brad and Andy walks back into their room and two other boys follow behind him. For some reason, I suddenly feel nervous when I saw one of them – it was the boy from the ice skating rink who ran into me. His eyes scan the room and when he saw me, his eyes widen.

“What’s wrong?” Andy asks, as he looks at me. “You two know each other?”

“N–no, but we met before.” the boy who ran into me before stutters out, still looking at me.

“You did?!” Andy asks in a rather high pitch tone.

The boy breaks his gaze and whispers something into his ear, Andy smiles and nods before he turns to us.

“We’ll be back in a minute.” Andy says, as he pushes his friend into the hallway.

After a couple seconds, the other two  look at me. I didn’t know what to do, so I just look down at the floor to avoid their gazes. I hate Andy for leaving me by myself in a room with boys that I don’t really know that well except for Brad. All of a sudden, Brad clasps his hands together, making me jump a little. The boy with blonde hair stifles a laugh, then nudges Brad.

“I am sorry.” Brad laughs. “By the way, this is Cam.” he states, motioning to his friend next to him.

“Hi, I assume you’re Alexandria.” Cam smiles, putting his hand out for me to shake.

I am really surprised to know that they know who I am, I wonder what Andy told them about me; I just hope that he didn’t told them something embarrassing whatsoever.

“Yeah, just call me Alexa.” I reply with a timid smile, “It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too.” he says, as he smiles back. “You’re the girl from the ice skating rink, right?” he asks.

I nod and before any of us could say anything, Andy walks back into the room with a smile and plops down on the couch next to where I am. After a minute or so, his friend walks back into the room and just leans on the door frame.

“Rye, meet Alexa.” Brad introduces, pointing at me. “Alexa, Rye.” he adds.

“Hi.” Rye simply says with a small smile, I just smile a little and wave at him.

I quickly look away from his gaze, awkwardly fumbling with my fingers. After a couple seconds of silence, Andy clears his throat and leans forward; putting his elbows on top of his knees.

“Why don’t we play a game to get to know each other more?” Andy suggests.

“Yeah, that’s a great idea.” Cam replies.

“I’ll go get some snacks before we start.” Brad gets up from the sofa and walks out of the room.

After a minute or so, Brad comes back with three large bags of chips. He goes back to his seat and we start to talk about what we are going to do; we will say our names, age, birthdays, hobbies, likes, dislikes, and our interests. Afterwards, Brad takes a bottle of soda from their fridge and we all participate in playing Spin the Bottle. Andy and I also share our story of how the two of us met and how we became close with each other. After playing for an hour or so, we decide to go out. I just sit there as the boys scramble around the room to get their stuffs, before we leave their flat.
