I put the lid on the cup and give it to the man – anxiously waiting for his drink.

“Thank you, enjoy your coffee.” I smile at him as he takes it.

The man smiles back and mutters a small thank you, before leaving. I turn to the next customer and it is one of our regular customers, smiling at me goofily.

“Hi.” he says, waving as he walks closer to the counter.

“Afternoon, what can I get you?” I ask, giving him a small smile.

“I’d like to order..” he looks up at the menu. “a Creamy Caramel Latte, grande.”

“Alright, one Creamy Caramel Latte..” I repeat, as I tap his order on the screen.

He pays for his drink before I start to make it and when I was through, I turn to him and he was just smiling at me. I scowl at him, as I walk towards him and give him his drink.

“Thank you,” he smiles, taking it. “your shift’s about to finish, right?”

I just nod, looking at him blankly.

“Okay, I’ll just wait for you, I am going to walk you home.” he says.

“Are you seriously going to do that everyday?” I raise my eyebrows at him.

“Of course, I’d do anything for you.” he winks whilst smiling.

“Yeah, very cliché.” I mutter. “Now if you please, you aren’t the only one in line.”

He smiles sheepishly and waves, before leaving and goes to take a seat at the side next to the window.

God, he’s such a dork; I thought to myself as I shake my head and bite my lip to stop myself from smiling.

Madison, one of my co–workers, nudges me with her elbow and steps closer as she looks at him; still cleaning the portafilter with a clean cloth.

“Are you two dating already?” she teasingly asks.

“No.” I reply, rather defensively causing her to look at me in disbelief. “I swear.” I chuckle.

“Whatever you say, Lexi.” she smiles, before going back to her work.

I turn to the next customer and go on with my work, until my shift was over.

“You two have fun.” Madison says with a wink, as she waves at us before we leave.

“Madi!” I giggle, looking at her with slightly wide eyes, making her laugh.

I shake my head and go to the table where Matt is.

“Hey, sorry to keep you waiting.” I say to him.

“I don’t mind,” he smiles reassuringly. “are you ready to go?” he asks.

   “Yeah.” I reply, smiling.

He gets up from the chair and the two of us walk out of the cafe and down the sidewalk.

“I really like that Caramel Latte, it’s now one of my favorites.” he says, glancing at me.

“Yeah, but you still have a lot to try though.” I reply.

Matt’s currently making his way through the entire menu, trying different coffees every single day.

“I know and that means more reasons to see you.” he chuckles.

“Whatever you say, Matt.” I reply with a small smile.

“Hey, uh, want to go out tomorrow after your shift?” he asks. “My friends and I are going to watch a football match.”

“I think I’ll just pass.” I reply, my mood suddenly different.

Football games are the boys – RoadTrip – and I’s thing and I want it to stay that way, even though we don’t talk to each other anymore.

“That was quick, aren’t you going to reconsid–”

“Oh, my god!” I blurt out, covering my mouth right away and hide behind Matt.

“What, what’s wrong, why are you hid–”

I hold the sleeves of his leather jacket to stop him from turning around.

   “Lexi –”

“Shh, don’t turn around, Matt.” I whisper to him.

I peek a little from his side and check to see if the boys are still there and when I was certain that they aren’t there anymore, I breathe out and step away from Matt. I can’t believe who I just saw, the RoadTrip boys.

“Are you okay?” Matt asks, snapping me out from my thoughts. “Why were you hiding?”

   I shake my head, “N–nothing.”

“Alright, about earlier; you sure you don’t wanna come? I’ll take care of the tickets, don’t worry.” he says, putting his arm around my shoulder which I remove right away.

“I am sorry but I can’t, I have to look after Nana.” I answer.

“Oh right, I understand.” he replies, looking down.

The walk on the way home is really quiet, neither did any of us say anything until we reach our house.

“Alexa, are you okay?” he asks, as the two of us walk down the pavement leading to the doorstep of Nana’s house. “It seems like.. you aren’t in the mood, did I say or do something wrong?”

   “No, no, I – I am alright.” I stammer. “I am sorry.”

“You have nothing to apologize for, Lexi.” he replies reassuringly. “Well, why don’t you go inside already, I’ll just see you tomorrow afternoon.”

I give him a weak smile, “Thank you and take care.”

“Yeah, I will.” he replies, smiling.

I wave at him, before getting inside. Mom already left and Nana is currently asleep, so I just sit at the sofa and I start to think about the boys. I want to walk up to them when I saw them earlier, but I can’t — they’re probably mad at me for leaving without talking to them, so I have to deal with the consequences.

   “Alexandria..”

I snap out of my thoughts and quickly get up from my seat and walk over to her.

“Hi, is there anything I could get you?” I say to her whilst smiling.

“I am fine, thank you.” she tries to sit up, so I take her forearm and gently pull her up. “how’s your work?”

“Oh, it’s alright, nothing new.” I chuckle, fixing her sweater.

She nods, “Well, go get some rest, I know you’re tired.”

“I am okay, Nana.” I assure her with a warm smile.

After talking to her for a bit, I go to my room and take the book that I was previously reading before going back to Nana’s room. I just sit on the sofa and read the book, whilst Nana watches a classic movie on the television.
