When you see my face
hopes it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way
hope it gives you hell, hopes it gives you hell
AAR "Gives you hell"
Josette was shaking with fear, the kitchen door was now wide open and yellow flames danced in the doorway. Almost everyone was heading for the front door, screaming, trying to get out but there was a few who just stood rooted on the spot not knowing what to do or too scared to even try to get out. Fear does funny things to different people some are set in motion and some simply stand by and watch consumed by their fear. Josette belonged to the second group. As Josette watched the flames creep nearer every rule of what to do if there is a fire came back to her. You should try to smother it. Well it was a bit too late now she thought as she watched the high flames trough the moving crowd. You were supposed to call an ambulance. But how was she supposed to do that if she couldn't even move and even if she could she didn't have her cell-phone.
The guestes kept going past her to safety. Somehow that made her leggs go to lead. Okay take a deep breath Josette and then try to move your leggs. She told herself. It didn't work. If anything she was even more paralysed. No, no, no, no, no not a good time for this now. She had to move! if she didn't she would end up like a turkey. Dead and barbequed. She had to get out! But it's a hard thing to do when your leggs are stuck to the floor. A voice sounding suspiciously like Mrs Macenzie said.
The fire roared and grew closer it was out of the doorway now. Her heart rate increased and she wondered if Charlie, Pepper, Tom, Mrs Bright and Sarah were okay. She hadn't spotted them in the crowd before and now half of the lot was out of the door. Josette hoped they were alright. They had to be alright.
The fire continued to spread. It had nearly reatched half the room now. And Josette was starting to feel the heat of the flames. The flames that could devour her. Josette's heart clenched. Looking at the fire as it came cravling closer and closer. Too close for her comfort. The air started to fill with poisonous smoke. She could hardly see anymore. She couldn't see anymore, she couldn't see anymore! Her breathing increased yet again if that was even possible and her heart started filling with dread. Now is not the time for panic. Josette scolded herself. Oh yeah? your in the middle of a fire thats keep comming closer and closer, you cant move and smoke is constantly filling the air soon you won't be able to breathe properly. I think this is deffinately the time for panic. If I panic it will only get worse. Josette argued. Like you aren't already. The voice answered.
Josette coughed and tryed to move her leggs again. But it was no use she was rooted at the spot. It was as if an invisible force was stopping her from moveing her leggs and going out of that door to safety. But Josette knew that was not the case. It was her own panic which was stopping her from taking a step. It had happened many times. She was used to it by now. Josette had accepted it as a part of her that would never go away, no matter how hard she tryed. She'd always be paralysed when it came to fear. But did she have to be paralysed right now? When her life was at stake. Her breaths started becomming more irregular and she begun to feel faint.
It was the smoke she realised and coughed again this time harder. It suddenly felt very hard to breathe. Without even thinking about it she threw herself at the floor where the air was cleaner and drew a breath. She was not going to be choked to death or even devoured by flames. She was not going to die here. Josette ripped away a part of her sleeve and held it to her mouth to breathe trough. It would have been better if the rag had been wet but it felt mutch better to breathe trough it than not.
