Shoolbag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning,

waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile.

I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness.

And I have to sit down for a while. The feeling that I'm loosing her forever.

And without really entering her world. I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter.

That funny little girl.

Slipping through my fingers all the time,

I try to capture every minute, the feeling in it,

slipping through my fingers all the time.

Do I really see what's in her mind. Each time I think I'm close to knowing,

She keeps on growing slipping trough my fingers all the time.

"Sorry that we haven't really talked", Josette said to Pepper who sat opposite her in a cafe'. It was the first time they had really talked since the redhead came to the island. "But it has just been so much with the fire and the wedding", the younger woman said trying to explain herself to the woman she saw as her mother. "It's alright", Pepper smiled. "I understand that you've been busy",

"But I shouldn't have been", Josette exclaimed. With an apologetic expression on her face. "I should have taken time to talk to you despite...", the brunet started and Pepper could see she was just about to start scolding herself and took the younger womans hand to cut her of. It wasn't her fault she had been busy. Besides she was makeing up for it now. "Jo it's okay", the redhead said. Makeing Josette stop in her tracs. "I understand.", Josette looked at her mom who was smileing at her. I understand when was the last time someone had said that to her? She couldn't remember. And suddenly she was filled with love and gratefullness towards the woman infront of her. "you sure?", she asked hesitantly. It was as if she was a child again asking for forgiveness. But it wasn't an entirely bad feeling. Not with Pepper with her mom she felt... protected. Like she would be taken care of, like all her troubles would go away in a blink of an eye. Of course she knew that wouldn't happen. But she still couldn't help to bask in the feeling for as long as it lasted. "Yes", Pepper said firmly.

Josette gave her a small smile. "Good", Pepper smiled back. "So tell me", the redhead started. "What have you been up to when you where away? I want to know everything", A grin broke out on Josette's face. Where would she even start. "Well. First I went to London to finish my studyies abroad. After a year I came back to the US...", Pepper's eyes grew large. "And you didn't tell me", She said sounding a bit accuseing. And Josette couldn't really blame her. She should have informed her. "Sorry", the redhead said and looked down. "Go on", She looked back up and added. "I was just surprised",

"It's okay... I would have been too", Josette reasured her. "Well anyway...", the brunet continued. "I worked at a cassino in Vegas for a time. But I didn't really like it", And Tony was still looking for her. "So I went to Spain and lived there for two years. I worked as a barrista", Josette said. "But I didn't earn very much and my money was running out. And if I hadn't sold the appartment and moved here to hotel Rosewood I would have been broke", She smiled a bit. "It payed of in the end", Josette said looking at her finger where her engagering was. It was really lucky that she almost had been broke.

"Wow that's...", Pepper trailed of a bit but wore a fond smile when she looked at her daughter. "Some story",

"Yeah", The brunet agreed. Looking up at the redhead. "So what about you?", She asked. "What have you been up too?",
