The Dragon's Ring

Chapter Nine

*TIME: 11:12 PM*

As Mr. Pepper pulled out his keys from his pocket and was about to lock the doors when he remembered what he talked about with Mikey's friends.  If he had to be honest with himself, he knew that what they were going to do was against the law but if this chaos was going to end, it was for the young inventor's friends to get the footage they need.

Regardless, he had to lock the door so he puts the key in the keyhole and turns it until he heard a click, indicating the door has been locked.  He takes the key out of the keyhole and walks away from the museum and into the night.

Hiding in the shadows was Mikey, Vixen, Tony, Robert and Melissa.  Karen, the mother of Mikey, Tony and Robert, was forced to return and stay at the house, mainly for her safety.  They watched as Mr. Pepper was leaving the premises.  Once he was gone, they all looked at Mikey and they knew for damn sure they were not bringing him inside.

"Mikey, I think it's best that you stay out here and keep watchful eye out for anyone" Vixen said to him, "If you see someone, hide and do not make a sound"

Mikey nodded to that but deep down, he was flipping out.  He had a serious phobia of the dark and can have panic attacks when he is alone in very pitch-black areas, which can cause him to hallucinate because believe it or not, it can make him become very seriously paranoid.

"Alright, lets go" Vixen said and she, Tony and Robert ran straight to the museum, leaving Mikey alone in the dark where he began becoming paranoid because of the pitch-black.

*TIME: 11:21 PM*

Once at the front door, Vixen put her hand on the doorknob and slowly tried to turn it, but it wouldn't budge.

"Locked" Vixen said.

"Lets go for a more appropriate approach" Tony said and points to a vent cover that was screwed to the wall.  Vixen and Robert turn their attentions to it and the 3 walk up to the vent cover and Vixen tries to pull it out of the wall.

"Screwed on tight" Vixen said when she was shoved aside by Tony.

"Get out of my way" Tony said and grabs the cover and with a little effort, pulls the cover out of the wall, revealing a vent that lead somewhere.

"Lets go in" Vixen said as Tony entered first and the others followed him though Melissa stayed behind.

"You know what?" she said softly to herself, "I am just going to stay here"

*TIME: 11:26 PM*

As they crouched through the vent, the faint sound of people talking was heard.  One of the voices sounded very familiar but they had to check it out before making conclusions.  As they progressed through the vent, Tony spotted light which he assumed was caused by a vent cover that was there.  Once they reached it, they peered out of the vent cover and despite the limited vision, they were able to make out one of the figures in the room.

It was Mr. Bodkins!  They listened in to the conversation:

"Alright listen up, in case some of you don't know, a bunch of kids are trying to get theirs hands on the footage that was recorded on the night the ring was stolen but tough luck for them as I have the footage downloaded into this fine flash drive I have in my pocket here" - Mr. Bodkins
