Blank space. A missing part
Hermione was pacing in her bedroom. It had been two days since she hadn't seen Malfoy. He had taken up residence in one of the bedroom upstairs and her room was downstairs attached to living area. It wasn't long before she realized that he was avoiding her. For the last two days, he had woken up early and used bathroom to avoid her passing in hallway. He had not joined her for any of the meals.
It was already too much that she was trapped alone in this house and Malfoy was not helping the situation by completely cutting communication with her.
On the other hand Draco was in turmoil. He was worried sick for his mother. Yes he rescued Granger but at what cost? He was angry, frightened and sad. He didn't even know he could feel all these emotions at once.
After seeing the scar on Granger's arm, he was somewhat afraid of interacting with her. It seemed just better to avoid her. He thought after everything that had happened, Granger wouldn't want to see him either.
Next day, early in morning, he went downstairs just to find Granger already awake and sitting in the sofa. It was impossible to go into the bathroom without passing her and also to turn back on his heels to go back to his room because Granger was already looking up at him. He didn't hold her gaze for more than a second and climbed down the remaining stairs. When he was crossing the living room she stood in front of him. Blocking his way with her tiny stature. He paused and looked at her. The determination he saw on her face to talk to him was something Draco wished she would slide. He was really in bad mood. Alas she didn't. 'Are you avoiding me?'
'Yes' he answered honestly, hoping that she would understand and step aside.
'Why?' She insisted.
He just shrugged, really praying that she would stop being so stubborn.
'Where are we?' She was not going to back down. She wanted to get out of this place really badly.
'I already told you Granger, I. don't. know.' he said pressing on last three words.
'I know that. I am saying do you have any hint as to where we could be? I mean you're mother gave you the port-key for this place, she must have given you some hint.'
The mention of his mother was the last thing he needed to finally snap.
'What's you're problem Granger? Isn't it enough that you're safe?' His voice was louder than usual.
'Am I?' Hermione was already frustrated and she didn't like when someone raised their voice at her. She snapped too.
Draco scoffed. 'You call me selfish and here you are.' He took few steps towards her, towering over her. She held up her face high, not breaking the eye contact. He bored his penetrating silvery eyes into her browns. 'I risked my ass to save your stupid friends. The death eaters are on my tail because I rescued you. My mother is in danger because of you.' His voice was getting louder after each sentence. His breaths ragged with all the emotions inside.
'My mother would have been here instead of you, if your bloody friends weren't stupid enough to get caught.' He spat. Hermione could feel the venom in his every word. ' You want to get out of here? Then find the fucking way on your own. I'm done doing you favors.' His hands were trembling with rage. His chest was moving up and down with his heavy breaths. When Granger made no immediate attempt to speak to him any further, he turned back and began climbing back the stairs to his room.
He slammed the door and cursed multiple times. That's why he avoided Granger for past few days. He was not in his right mind. He didn't trust his emotions. He was afraid he would lash out and that's what happened. He regretted blaming Hermione.
