had him pretty much ambush
me. so what did you expect?

maxy
we thought if he showed up to your mom's house you guys would be able
to work things out in a good way

briiii
my mind was already made up. there
was nothing that really could've been
said to change that

kaY jaY
well we're here to tell you
that's a stupid ass mindset
to have

maxy
and we're also here to tell you
that we're at the front door so
you should probably open it for us

briiii
i don't think that
would be a good idea

kaY jaY
briiii we would've just waited until you came back to la to talk to you but you keep extending your stay at your mom's so we have no idea when that was gonna be

maxy
soooo just open the door and
don't make us call jennifer to
have her open it for us

REAL LIFE
brielle — right
others — left

as she went toward the front door to open it for her friends, brielle made an effort to wipe away any stray tears on her face and fix anything else that could possibly help max and kj realize that she had been crying a few minutes ago.

however, that effort seemed to not work at all because right when she opened the door, kj saw her face and immediately gave her a sad look.

"bri, shit, are you crying?
fuck, we're sorry for yelling
at you through texts."

brielle quickly wiped at her cheeks once again, slightly upset with herself that she hadn't done a better job at doing it the first time.

"no, no. it wasn't what you
guys said. and i'm not crying.
at least, not anymore."

max placed a soothing hand on bri's shoulder before he began speaking.

"then, what's wrong?
why were you crying?"

for the past couple days, brielle had become pretty good at pretending; pretending that everything was fine in front of her mother, and pretending that she didn't really care about what happened through text messages with max and kj. but, now, she didn't really want to pretend anymore, it was tiring and she didn't have the energy to do it, especially not right then.
