I woke up at dawn to find everything back in place with Adam nowhere to be found. I grabbed my phone to see it was already three in the morning, which meant I must have fallen asleep after crying my heart out last night.
I was about to close my phone and get back to sleep when I noticed I got a text from Adam, "I had to go, but I'll pick you up tomorrow!" It read, and I couldn't help but smile sheepishly at the few words displayed on my phone screen.
...
"Good morning," I greeted my parents as I walked into the kitchen. Breakfast was already on the table as I took my seat next to dad. "Good morning honey," smiled mom, sitting some pancakes into my plate as I asked dad to hand me the syrup.
"I heard you were working on a project last night," said dad. "Yeah, we have this project in English that's due in a few weeks." I nodded, shoving some pancakes into my mouth, enjoying the savoury taste of strawberry syrup.
"And how is it going?" He asked. "Pretty good," I nodded.
"We're done with the layout and our vision of how we want it to go." I said. "And we've picked the stories we want to include," I continued.
"So I guess we're pretty much done." I shrugged, taking a sip of my orange juice.
"Oh, and I'll be catching a ride with Adam today." I added before I forget. "He stayed pretty late last night," inquired mom, I was surprised to hear that he stayed after I drifted off, but I didn't want her to think something happened, so I just nodded. "We had a lot to do,"
"I like Adam and all, but I also don't like my baby having men over till midnight!" Added dad, jokingly.
"I'm a big girl, don't you worry about me." I chuckled as I heard my phone ring in my backpack. "Time to go," I said, kissing my dad on the cheek, waving goodbye to both of them before running to the door, to find him there, standing in front of his car waiting for me.
I gave him a quick hug, muttering a quick. "Morning," before getting into the passenger seat as he held it open for me, "Thanks," I muttered before he made his way into the passenger seat. "You should have come in; they would have been happy to see you."
"Maybe next time, I think we're pretty late as it is." He said, looking at the time.
"So," He said, trailing off as he checked me out in his rearview mirror. "How are you feeling?" He asked, his eyes back on the road as he took a U-turn.
"I've slept well," I smiled.
"Good," He smiled back. "I've bought you some hot chocolate," He added, pointing at the cup in his cup holder.
"Aww," I said jokingly. "How sweet of you," I smiled, taking the steaming hot cup into my hand, and I could instantly feel the warmth run through my hands and into my body making me feel giddy all over.
"You're an angel," I exclaimed, taking a sip.
"Some say I am," He chuckled, "Be careful," He put his hand over mine to grab the cup as the car jumped, hitting a bump in the road.
I grabbed the cup tighter, feeling the heat rise into my cheeks as he took his hand off of mine, sitting it back on the steering wheel. "And that's why you shouldn't drink hot beverages in the car," He chuckled as I tried to fight off the blush.
"You should have woke me up," I said, carefully drinking my sweet beverage. "You looked peaceful." He said, and I could see the smile forming on his face, his eyes never leaving the road.
And I could feel the heat once again rising onto my cheeks. This boy is seriously bad for my health! "I look like a freaking baby all curled up like that," I exclaimed. "You do." He chuckled.
