"I remember telling you to keep your fat ass out of my way," Cried the high pitched voice I know too well, making me turn reluctantly, my face dropping into a frown as I noticed the heads already turning to witness my dose of humiliation. "Oh," She exclaimed all of a sudden, making my frown deepen. "It's also mental!" She gasped, catching me off guard. "What?" I asked in confusion. What the hell is she on about?
"You're mentally challenged." She said as a matter of fact. "That's why I have to remind you every time?!" She exclaimed, shaking her head, acting like she just unravelled a universal secret. "I'm so sorry, I thought your problem was only physical." She added with a sly grin, making her minions chuckle. Do they really think this shit is funny!
"And what is your problem?" I found myself asking out of nowhere, and I could tell from the look of surprise on her face that she is just as surprised as I am with what came out of my mouth.
"You. My problem is you." She said calmly, regaining her composure.
"I just don't prefer your presence,"
"Neither do I prefer yours, but here we are." I said, hearing a gasp from the crowd that just keeps increasing in number. What the hell am I doing!
"I see you've grown guts." She raised her eyebrows at me. "Let's see where that gets you," She added, before walking away, leaving me behind and I couldn't help but slid down the wall and onto the ground ignoring the stares, as my nerves finally got the best of me. What the hell just happened.
...
"Who the hell are you, and what have you done to my friend?" Asked Zayna as I took my seat on the table, noticing the other three curious pairs of eyes on me. "Who am I?" I asked in confusion. Even though I have a hunch, I knew exactly what she was talking about.
"You know it was all caught on video, right?" She asked, handing me her phone. True to her words, the entire encounter was posted on the school's gossip page on social media. Shit.
"Who the hell are you, and what have you done to our Claire?" She repeated her question as I handed her back the phone.
"Not that any of us is complaining." Added Zack, with a chuckle.
"I don't know what took over me, but I think the presentation is messing with my head." I chuckled as I felt Adam's eyes on me. "You looked pretty cool putting her into place like that," said Ash.
"I would have gone with a proper beating instead," said Zayna. "But that works too," She added, making us chuckle.
"I have a feeling she wouldn't let me live it down." I shook my head already dreading what's going to come out of this. "It'll be okay," nodded Ash with a smile. "There is nothing much she can do." She assured me.
"I hope." I nodded.
"So," said Ash. "Joe asked me to be his girlfriend," She added with a smile. "Oh my god, for real!" I exclaimed, nearly jumping off of my chair in excitement, as did the girl sitting next to me.
"He asked me two days ago, and I said yes." She smiled sheepishly. That's before we hung out in my house!
"And you waited this long to tell us!" Exclaimed Zee, and I could tell she realized why just a second after she said it, so she just tried to cover it up with, "But it's great he did."
"You've been going out long enough," added Zack, coming to her aid.
"He looks like a good guy," added Adam, and I realized he hadn't spoken much up till now. "He is," said Ash, a smile stretched on her face, making her look like a lovesick puppy. And I kinda am loving this version of her. Even if a teeny tiny piece of my heart is envious and sad about my own failed romance.
"And one gal down," Chuckled Zayna, "You still haven't said who's asking me to prom!" Added she, turning to Zack, who just smiled. "Patience Zayna, only those who wait wins."
"Why are you like this?" She asked in disgust as he shrugged, a smile playing on his lips, as he continued teasing the girl. And my eyes wandered around the table only to fall on Adam, who was already looking at me. A small smile covering his lips, making my mouth shape into one of its own. How am I ever going to get over you?
....
"He told me what happened." Said Senna as we stood in front of the theatre. I didn't intend to run into her, not so soon, at least, but I guess you can't control life. "What?" I asked, even though I knew exactly what she was talking about.
"The kiss,"
"It meant nothing," I assured her. "You think?" She asked with a smile. "He said it himself!" I exclaimed with a shrug. "Ahmmm," She nodded.
"I guess he doesn't have anyone on his mind after all," I added. "I guess not,"
"So you'll be okay if we dated?" She asked, a smile still playing on her lips, and I wanted nothing more than to wipe it off her pretty face, but I just nodded instead. "Good," She nodded.
"At least now I know I have no competition." She added. "I don't believe you ever did."
"Hmmm," She mumbled. "Maybe,"
"Just take care of him," I said. "He is a good guy."
"I know he is," Of course you know!
