Xiao Jun paced along the docks, hands buried in his pockets. The sun rays casted down on the harbor, the blue ocean glittering below him, seagulls chirping to no end. The summer heat brushed his pale skin as he took more steps, the smell of salt tickling his nostrils.
He looked out towards the water, a few boats were out sailing, ripples appearing under them as they moved slowly. But he narrowed his eyes when he spotted tiny things floating along the sea.
There were little, origami boats drifting along with the ripples of water. They looked so small in comparison to the actual boats sitting idly on the harbor, and Xiao Jun walked closer to the edge to get a closer look.
He crouched down, squinting even harder at the paper boats. He kept his focus on a specific one - it was green, almost the color of the leaves on trees. It probably caught his attention because it was his favorite color, but he didn't fail to notice the amount of detail on the boat.
It was crafted so neatly, displaying a delicate appearance. Xiao Jun has never taken so much interest in origami before, but whoever made these boats definitely had some skills with paper.
"Oh good, they didn't get destroyed yet."
Xiao Jun turned his head, meeting brown eyes, which reflected off the sun rays, giving them a more goldish hue. The boy bent down next to him.
"They're actually holding up." he continued, a smile forming on his lips, revealing his perfect, straight white teeth.
"You made them?" Xiao Jun found himself asking.
"Yeah." the male continued to stare at the water. "I read somewhere that the paper boat searches for your soulmate." he chuckled, and Xiao Jun swore it was the sweetest sound he's ever heard. "But that's probably a myth. It sounds so silly, but I still tried it out."
"You're looking for your soulmate?" Xiao Jun asked curiously.
The other shrugged. "I really don't know."
He directed his gaze towards Xiao Jun. "What's your name?"
"Xiao Jun." the boy introduced himself. "You?"
"Hendery." he smiled. "Nice to meet you. Do you live in the suburbs near here?"
Xiao Jun nodded.
"Cool. Me too."
"Did you just move here?"
"Yeah, about a week ago. But I'm absolutely in love with the harbor." Hendery's smile grew wider as he looked out to the ocean again.
"Then the harbor's probably your soulmate."
Hendery arched an eyebrow.
"I'm just kidding with you." Xiao Jun shook his head, his lips curling into a grin.
"Your sense of humor is really something." Hendery lifted himself and stood up. "I'm gonna explore this place some more. Wanna come with me?"
"Uh, sure." Xiao Jun agreed, getting up as well. "I can show you around if you'd like."
"That would be great." Hendery beamed, giving off the same vibe as a child on Christmas morning. He looked out to the ocean again.
"Good luck paper boats! Please survive for as long as you can!" he shouted, blowing a singular kiss towards the little paper crafts floating in the water.
Xiao Jun couldn't help but giggle quietly at the other's action.
The two boys started to make their way down the rest of the dock.
