"Hendery," the boy's mother lifted her luggage into the back of the truck. "Take care. I'll send a text everyday to check up on you. Don't do anything stupid, alright?"

"Okay mom." he wrapped his arms around her small frame. "I promise I'll behave."

She left a kiss on his cheek as she got into the passenger's seat. His dad gave him a hug too, advising him to eat well, sleep at a decent time, the usual.

He watched his parents pull out of the driveway, waving them a temporary goodbye. He sighed, walking back into the quiet, empty house. His parents were only gonna be gone for the weekend, but he already felt so alone.

He grabbed his phone and exited the house, heading over to his neighbor's.

"Hey Hendery." Xiao Jun opened the door with that signature (cute) smile of his.

"Hi." he beamed back, walking into the living room. He was here so often, it was starting to become his second home. "I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my house tonight? I'm planning on having a movie night."

"Oo, that sounds fun." Xiao Jun parted his lips in amusement, leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Yeah, but the problem is, my parents took the truck. So can you drive us to the store so we can get the supplies for it?" he made a box smile.

The other male arched an eyebrow at his friend, then proceeded to chuckle.

"Am I your personal uber now?" he asked playfully, causing Hendery to roll his eyes.

"I'm not paying you." he folded his arms across his chest.

"Well, if you don't pay, I won't drive you. That's how the law works." despite saying that, Xiao Jun still grabbed his keys off the counter.

Hendery shook his head, a soft laugh escaping his lips. "I will never get over your sense of humor."

"What? Why is it called the dollar store when this thing cost one dollar and fifty nine cents?!" Hendery placed the a bottle of soap back in its original place on the shelf. "Life is unfair."

"Why are you looking a soap? We're only here to buy popcorn and candy." Xiao Jun said, coming up to the other in the aisle.

"It's fun to look around in the dollar store." Hendery huffed. "Everything is so poorly made, sometimes the items even fall apart before you buy them! But no hate on the dollar store, I am in no particular way throwing shade at it, I'm simply stating the truth."

Xiao Jun couldn't hold back his laugh at his friend's dumb reason for wandering around the store like a curious child.

Right before they got to the candy section, the two males got distracted by a box of pool noodles sitting nearby.

"Don't fuck with me! I have the power of god and anime on my side!" Hendery shouted (a little too loudly), wanging his flimsy pool noodle towards the other boy.

"I'm a jedi." Xiao Jun smirked, lifting the plastic noodle and clashing it with  Hendery's, causing a loud 'pop' sound to arise from the material smashing together.

Just two college boys having a pool noodle sword fight in the middle of the dollar store. What a typical summer day.

"I bet I can still defeat you!" Hendery shot back, lifting his 'weapon' over his head and slamming it back down, another loud pop piecing through the air.

They were laughing like crazy, to the point to where they were both on the floor wheezing, they couldn't handle the playful sword fighting without giggling.

That went on until an employee approached them and kicked them out of the store for roughhousing.

"Does he think we're like twelve?" Hendery complained as they walked into the parking lot, empty handed.

"We were acting like it." Xiao Jun sighed, unlocking the vehicle and getting inside.

And so, they were on their way to another dollar store, planning to actually buy the stuff they originally wanted to obtain.
