Ice Age: The Middle

CHAPTER ONE

"Manny." A soft smooth velvet like voice spoke, causing Manny to open his eyes, but only to meet a black endless void that seemed to go on forever.

Gasping softly, Manny turned and twisted his body around, trying to find the source of the voice but also a source of light. But no matter how many times he turned and twisted, no such light could be found.

"Mannnyyyy...." The same smooth velvet like voice spoke, but this time it sounded closer, almost as if it was right behind him.

Spinning around, Manny gasped in shock as he saw the same position that haunt him, even though it shouldn't have. But none the less it still did.

"S-Sarabi...?" Manny called out softly, looking shocked and petrified.

Manny couldn't believe his eyes as he saw the mangled body of his little sister. Lying against the rocks taking deep shallow breaths.

"M-Mannnyyy...." Sarabi gasped in pain as she looked up at her brother. "Why?" She said after a while causing Manny to look at her with confusion.

"What?" Manny furrowed his eyebrows wondering what she meant.

"Why did you let me die? Why didn't you save me?" Sarabi spoke as her breathing started to decrease, causing Manny to start panicking.

Manny's heart started to race even more at what came out of her mouth. What did she mean by that? Before he could even open his mouth to respond her hooded eyelids closed shut and her breathing ceased.

"Sarabi!!!!" Manny cried out, his heart clenching at seeing his sister die in front of him.

Manny watched in agony as his sisters body disappeared in a bright light causing the Mammoth to panic even more.

"MANNNY!!!"

"MANNY!!!"

"MANNY WAKE UP!!"

The sudden jolt of his body being shaken, caused Manny's eyes to shoot open a gasp escaped his mouth as his heart raced in his chest. Standing above him, Manny could see his sister Sarabi and Diego standing above him with concern eyes.

"Manny are you alright?" Sarabi asked softly as she watched her brother start to calm down.

"Yeah." Manny said shakily, causing Sarabi and Diego to both look at each other before looking down at him. "Seriously, I'm fine. It was just a nightmare." Manny exclaimed at the start before his voice went softer towards the end.

Nodding their heads, Sarabi and Diego watched as Manny stood up on all fours and started to walk around their new home, with Diego and Sarabi following on either side of Manny.

~le mini time skip~

Manny, Sarabi and Diego walk over towards the kids section of the water-park that was created from where the ice melted.

By the time the trio got there, they saw the kids putting their friend Sid into a hole they had dug up. A small beaver like creature was jumping on Sid's head pushing the Sloth further into the ground.

"Hey! Hey! Whoa! Who said you kids could torture the Sloth?" Manny questioned once they arrived at the scene. Causing the beaver to hope off the Sloth and quickly made his way to his friends.

"Manny, don't squash their creativity." Diego joked, looking down at the sloth.

"Now, kids. Please do try to be nice to the poor Sloth." Sarabi said gently looking over at all the children, who looked down in slight shame.

"Manny, Sarabi, Diego! My bad mammal-jammals! How about giving a sloth a hand?" Sid asked looking hopefully up at his three and (sadly) only friends.

Sighing, Manny then wraps his trunk around Sid's neck and pulls harshly, causing Sid to come out of the hole in one go. As Manny placed Sid on the ground, he turned to his friends in excitement.

"Look! I opened my own camp! Campo de Sid! It means 'Camp of Sid'." Sid spoke using hand gestures.

"Congratulations! You're now an idiot in two languages." Diego said smirking, causing Sid to shush him which caused Sarabi to look at the two in confusion.

"Sshh! Not in front of the K-I-D-Z. These little guys love me! Right Billy?" Sid then turned his question towards a turtle like creature. (I'm sorry i have no idea what its actually called.)

"Don't make me eat you." Billy said narrowing his eyes at the Sloth causing the other kids to laugh.

"Ah. They kid. That's why their called kids." Sid said looking back over towards Diego and Sarabi causing said female to shake her head in annoyance.

"I told you, Sid. You're not qualified to run a camp." Manny bluntly stated causing Sarabi to frown a little.

Sure Sid may be unreliable and stupid but they should give the sloth some credit. He did after all make this herd and the reason why they are all friends.

"Ah. Since when does qualifications have anything to do with childcare? Besides, these kids look up to me. I'm a role model to them." Whilst Sid was talking, the beaver wrapped a piece of vines (or is it a piece of seaweed?) around his legs without the Sloth noticing. But when Sid finished speaking the beaver and a anteater push the sloth causing Sid to fall over and land on face before turning around on his back, looking up at his friends.

"I can see that." Diego retorted with a smirk on his face.

"You guys think I can't do anything, except for Sarabi who is the only one to ever believe in me. But I'm an equal member of this herd. I made this herd. So, you need to start treating me with some respect." Sid finished before he turned around and started hopping away with his legs still tied together.

"Come on, Sid." Manny groans as he watched the Sloth hop away along with Sarabi and Diego.

"Sid! We were just kidding!" Diego calls after the sloth, but was ignored.

"Come on Sid! Come back! We can talk about this!" Sarabi called out causing the Sloth to stop in his tracks for a moment, before shaking his head and continued hopping away, making Sarabi's ears flatten against her head.

"Hey!" The trio heard causing them to turn around and face the voice. "Let's play pin-the-tail-on-the-mammoth." The beaver says excitedly raising a little stick in the air letting out a little battle cry as the others cheered in agreement.

"Sid!!!" The two males called back out to their Sloth friend hoping that he would come back. But he didn't.

Sarabi having enough of the kids behaviour, stepped in front of the two males and stood tall in front of the kids causing them to stop in their tracks.

"And what do you think you're doing?" Sarabi spoke slowly raising an nonexistent eyebrow down at the kids in front of her.

"Nothing." They all spoke simultaneously, causing a small smile to appear on Sarabi's face. Since she can't stay mad at the young kids for long. "Who wants a story?" Sarabi spoke up after a couple of moments of silence causing all the kids to cheer.

Both Manny and Diego glanced at each other with shocked looks, but then again they should of remembered that Sarabi was good with kids.
