Melissa's POV

"Oh my god, Melissa this is amazing!" Chyler squealed. She came at me with a huge hug. This was amazing, wasn't it? I smiled at first for a reflex, but when she hugged me, my face relaxed. After all, hugging is just a way to hide your face.

"Well," I started, "is it?"

"Mel, what do you mean?"

"I'm just worried if this baby is gonna put a wedge in my life. Supergirl can't be pregnant! And I still have a whole career in front of me. And plus, I've only been dating Chris for like 5 months. Yes, I've known him for like a year and a half, but what if he doesn't want it? What if he leaves?" I was so unsure about how to feel.

"Melissa, just from looking on from the outside, Chris will love you. No. Matter. What. He will be there every step of the way. And having a child won't ruin your career. I mean look at me, I have kids and my career hasn't ended. You've always wanted a family, and having one now will change your life in the best way. And plus, they can edit your pregnant belly out of the scenes like they did in Wonder Woman." Chyler laughed. I laughed as well. Somehow she always could make me feel better.

"Yeah, he's a pretty great guy." I looked back down at the pregnancy test still in disbelief.

Chyler perked up, "Oh! You should try some creative way to tell him, you know, like in those viral Instagram videos or something!"

"Yes! What should I do?"

Chyler and I talked about this for the next 45 minutes on how to break the news to Chris. After going back and forth with ideas, we decided that I should get a baby outfit and hide it with some of the boxes we were unpacking. I was so excited that I went to the store while leaving work to get a little baby onesie and a little box and a bow to package it in. As I drove home, Farley sniffed the bag with all of the stuff in it. "Farley, are you excited to have a little brother or sister?" I asked excitedly. She barked once and I patted her on the head.

I unlocked the door to Chris's--I mean our-- apartment and found Chris cooking up some dinner.

"Hey, babe! I made some pasta, are you ready for dinner?" He said. I walked toward him and gave him a peck on the lips and I placed my keys down.

"Yeah, sure let me just change and I'll be right out," I said smiling. As I walked towards our room I looked back at Chris putting plates out on the table. I couldn't believe that this amazing man was going to be the father of my child. When I entered the room there were boxes of my stuff everywhere. I unpacked my shopping bag on a random box and put together the little gift. I placed the onesie in the gift box and the pregnancy test as well. I put the lid on the box and stuck the bow on. I took a marker and quickly scribbled "to Chris, xoxo" on the box. I smiled as I looked at the little bundle. I couldn't wait to see his reaction. I placed the gift into a box labeled "for the master bedroom" then I changed and walked out to dinner. Tonight was going to be perfect.

Chris's POV

As I finished setting the table, Melissa walked out into the kitchen. She kept her hair straight, tucked behind her ears. Her cheeks were brighter than usual if that's even possible. She walked over and kissed me before we sat down.

"This looks so good!" She said starting to dig in, "You didn't have to go all the way as to make me dinner."

"Well, of course, I had to. You are back at work, off your meds, and you'removing in. You seem so happy these days, I thought a homemade dinner would be a nice way to top it all off." I replied. She smiled and rested her head on her hand. I stared into her eyes, so blue and full of joy. I forgot how much I loved to see her happy. I looked back down at my plate and started eating, "Anyway, how was work?"

"It was good," she said stuffing a fork full of pasta in her mouth, "I mean, of course, I wished you were there."

I looked back up at her teasing her with a smile.

"What can I say, you're my favorite person to act with!" She laughed.

"You know, you seem extra happy today," I said.

She looked down at her plate and smiled to herself, "I guess I have a lot to be happy about."

We talked and ate for a while. I missed just the two of being relaxed together. After dinner, we started to clean up. Mel carried the dishes over while I loaded them into the dishwasher.

"Hey, Mel," I said while trying to fit the glasses onto their space in the dishwasher, "we should watch a movie later, like Singing in the Rain or something." I looked back at her and her face was suddenly white. The rosy pink had left her cheeks and she furrowed her brow. She quickly set the plate down on the counter and used both hands to hold on the counter. She looked like she was about to faint, but she just took a few steps to regain her balance. "Melissa! Are you okay? What's wrong?" I was so worried. What if she was still hurt from the fall? What if her brain wasn't fully healed?

She rubbed her temple with two fingers, "Yeah, Yeah I'm okay. I'm just a little tired, it was a long day. I'm just going to lay down."

"You know what happened last time you said that, right? Why don't I just come with you and-"

"Chris, trust me, it's nothing. The studio lights were glaring all day on set today, my head just hurts a little." I kissed her on her forehead as if that would heal her headache, and she wandered down the hall. Whatever was wrong with her, I would help. I would keep her safe this time.
