Exactly Like That

My nerves were at an all time high when my butt hit the leather seat. I couldn't get back out now because the door was already closed. Dammit Phara.

I counted in my head as I turned to Mystery Man. Like the windows his sunglasses were pitch black, but I knew his face. This definitely is the craziest experience I've ever had.

"..Mr. Nelson?"

"Yes."

"You're the owner of Paisley Park?"

"Yes."

"Are you also Jamie Starr, Joey Coco and the hieroglyphic looking symbol?"

He chuckled and nodded, "I am. Are you the person that put two and two together?"

"Well..yeah, but I wouldn't think a parent from my kids class would be all those things...wow, this is kind of a big deal. You're from Minneapolis right?"

"Born and raised. I would like to answer all of your questions now, but I think it's best we do it in a better setting. Can I take you to lunch?"

"Um.." It's kind of too late to say no now. "Sure. All my things are upstairs though."

"That's no problem. Everything's on me. Trust me, I'll bring you back." I'm already in the car anyway. "Okay." I agreed and the driver pulled out. "I'm sorry if this is a lot to take in right away. Last Friday I was just as mind blown when Ms. Hendrix said your name. I knew it was meant to be that I give your publication the access to Paisley. It's true that I've admired your work for the past few years."

"I.." I was speechless. "I can't think of anything to say but thank you. This is a big deal for us, and with your help it's really going to widen our audience."

"You're welcome. It's just as a big deal to me. I knew in order for me to open up, I had to open Paisley first."

A question was on the tip of my tongue that I had to ask. "If you don't mind me asking, why now? You obviously like your privacy and have been behind the scenes for over a decade. What made you want to step forward?"

He smirked a little, like he was holding back from saying something too revealing.

"The circumstances needed to be lined up correctly." And that's all he said. For the rest of the ride there was a comfortable silence as I went over what he could mean. There was so much to this and I was chosen to get a front seat to it. What exactly did he want from me? I don't know, but I'm definitely going to find out, today.

We pulled up to a local club that I had heard about, Fender Tone. It didn't look busy at all as we got out. Mr. Nelson opened the door for me and soft music filled my ears. "Table for two?" The hostess asked. "Yes, thank you." He answered. I noticed that we were the only people in here as we followed her to a table in the back and he pulled my seat out for me. "Thank you."
