Josh shoots up, plate of food still in his hand. He storms off into the kitchen, places his plate on the island counter, then leans against it, back to the doorway. Tyler tiptoes into the room, barely audible due to his sock padded feet. He reaches the island, and sits there to analyze Josh. His head is in his hands, fingers slightly tangled in the wet, faded pink hair. Tyler notices his fingernails lightly baring down into his scalp.
"Josh, let me explain." Tyler begs. Josh turn around, anger evident in his gaze.
"What is there to explain? Are you going to try and prove your lie is a truth? You said you were ending things with her, that there was always problems in the relationship. You freaking looked unhappy with her, sounded upset when talking about her and your problems with her. And now you're freaking engaged to her? You never even told me you were planning on doing it. When did you do it?" Josh rambles furiously. Tyler's eyes widen, his top teeth suck in his bottom lip and chew on it. He drops his head down, "Since July of last year." Josh crosses his arms, "L-last year. Last year and you never told me. What day did you do it?"
"July seventh." Tyler answers. He has already lost this battle, he gives up. He accepts his defeat.
"The day after we went on hiatus." Josh states.Tyler shoots his head back up, sorrow filled in his eyes. He gives Josh a pleading look.
"Jenna thought we were making a bad decision, and it was fueling to the problems. I thought it would fix everything." Tyler explains. Josh frowns, meeting Tyler's doe brown eyes, "Why didn't you tell me?"Tyler freezes. Why didn't he tell Josh? He never once had the thought of telling him. He has no clue, but at the same time, deep down inside of him, he feels he knows the exact reason. He stares at Josh's almond eyes, his eyes look like there's a fire inside of them. Colors mix in his eyes to make an orange tone, honey-like, but fiery. His warm fiery eyes make Tyler realize. He won't ever admit it to Josh, the full truth that is. He has come to the conclusion why he never did tell him, but he still tells the answer that is partly truthful. The answer that will be suffice, "Exactly how you are now. I didn't want you to be furious at me. I didn't want you to tell me the truth. I didn't want you to be right. I ran from all of my problems."
Josh sighs. Tyler wipes the tears that have fallen onto his cheeks. Josh steps over to Tyler, grabs onto his shoulders, and pulls his small frame into his own big one. He wraps one arm around his waist, and rests the other in Tyler's fluffy brown hair. He places Tyler's head on his chest. Tyler inhales sharply, then exhales shakily.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm sorry, I just was upset. I'm over it, Ty. Forgive me, please." Josh whispers in Tyler's ear, trying to soothe him. Tyler feels like Amari, when she's upset and Josh holds her close and makes her feel better just by his heartbeat and soft whispers of comfort. Josh rubs Tyler's back as he regains normal breathing. Tyler peeks up at Josh's almond eyes, "I'm sorry, Josh." Josh leans down and kisses the top of Tyler's head. Fluffy, brown hairs tickle his chin and face. Josh stares into Tyler's eyes, "Ty, I know you run from your problems, but you know you can talk to me about anything. You don't need to run."
