Chapter 9

After a few days, George was having a day off. He went to see his boss at the hospital and saw Jacob that was still sat by his side. "Hi Jacob. How is he?" "Hi George. He's still the same." They suddenly heard a moan and they both looked to the bed to see Martin stir and slowly open his eyes. "Hi Martin," Jacob gently greeted. "Jacob?" "I'm here." He slowly looked around and asked, "where's my wife?" "She's in the waiting room. I'll go and get her."

George stayed with Martin and kept him company while Jacob left to get their bosses wife. Jacob shortly returned with Martin's wife as she held their daughter in her arms. "Martin?" she asked. He looked to her and smiled. "I'm here baby." She quickly walked towards her husband and gave him a hug with one arm as she kept hold of their daughter in the other. "How are you feeling?" "What happened to me?" "We were just walking and you were randomly attacked." "I'm just glad that you're safe. Both of you." She kissed his forehead and she held their daughter out to him.

Martin then took his daughter from her and held her to his chest. "Hi sweetheart. Daddy's here." George and Jacob smiled. "Why don't we leave them alone?" George asked. "Yeah. Martin, don't worry about the store. We're running it well while you've been here recovering." "I'm proud of you both." George thanked him and then said, "you just focus on getting better." "I will. Thanks for coming to visit." George and Jacob then left his boss with his wife and daughter.

George told Jacob that he'd see him the next day while he went to the store.

George went home to Kira and saw her on the sofa. "Hi baby." "Hi George." She stood up and walked over to him. "How was your boss?" "He woke up. We just have to find out when he gets out." "I'm sure he'll be out soon." "He will. The doctor might ask him if he knew who attacked him." "Of course, the doctor will ask. It might help Martin to remember who attacked him." "Maybe. Anyway, we better get some sleep. I have work in the morning." She moved closer to him and fell into a deep sleep.

At two in the morning, Kira was still asleep as well as George, but he suddenly tensed hard in his sleep. Kira then woke up and felt her precious mate tense again. "George?" he tensed harder and Kira gently stroked his cheek with her knuckles. "Shhhh. You're safe." He suddenly stopped tensing and turned around to face his mate. "Kira?" "I'm here." "Run." She made a worried face and asked, "why?" with a worried tone. "I won't let him take you away from me." "Who?" His eyes then slowly opened and she didn't know if he was still asleep or if he was awake. "Who's going to take me away from you?" His eyes then slowly drifted closed without saying another word.

Kira woke up at six o'clock in the morning to find that her mate wasn't by her side. She figured that he was getting ready for work already. So, she got out of bed and went looking for him.

Once Kira looked everywhere, she decided to call her mate's parents. "Hello?" "Hi dad." "Kira." "Is George with you? he's not in the house." "He's here Kira. He must've been sleepwalking because there was a knock on our door in the middle of the night and when I answered the door, he just walked inside and went straight to his bed." "As long as he's safe, I'm fine." "I'm just about to wake him up so he can have something to eat and get ready for work. I'll let him have his breakfast here and I'll drive him over." "Thanks dad." "No problem. I'll see you later." "Bye dad."

An hour passed when George and his father were at the house. Kira opened the door and tightly hugged her mate. "I was so worried." "I'm here. I'm safe," he gently told her while he held her close to his chest. "I'll leave you both to it. Come and visit after work." "I will. I'll see you later." His father smiled before turning around and getting back into the car and driving back to his house.

George and Kira shortly released each other and he went upstairs to take a shower before getting into his work clothes. When he was ready for work, he walked down the stairs and Kira looked concerned at him. "I think you should stay here today. You look tired." "I'll be fine." "You better be. Just be careful on the road." "I will. I promise." They kissed as George then got into the car and drove to work.
