CHAPTER SEVEN: A small talk

Avoiding Killua is harder than Y/N thought it would be.

After the really awkward trip with Killua to the market, Mito has been finding weird excuses to get them to go somewhere together. There was even a time when she had asked the both of them to catch some fish at a lake nearby when they could've simply bought bigger ones in the market than what they caught that day.

Of course, Killua doesn't really care about being alone with Y/N (he actually enjoys being with them).

But Y/N– however, let's say that they were having 'one of the hardest times in their life' (okay– they had to admit that it wasn't that much of a big deal but they love to exaggerate their words to make it look like a series of mess had just occurred to them).

"Y/N, you're being really over dramatic," Gon points out, a hint of concern suddenly exposed over his face when he notices Y/N's used-to-be radiant eyes that has drastically changed to low-spirited looking ones. "Having a crush is really not that bad as you think. Don't take it too far to the point where you think about it everyday."

"It's hard, Gon. I can't even sleep properly nowadays because I keep thinking about– well, him. I'm just scared."

"What are you scared of?"

"Change, I guess," Y/N glances at Gon before continuing to speak once Gon nods his head, signaling them to not stop. "The last time I had a crush on someone was seven years ago, I was still a child back then and God knows how much I fell for this person who was one of my closest friends."

"Mhm?"

"They rejected me. They didn't take my feelings into account and started distancing themselves away from me but of course, I didn't give a crap about it, I was a child back then so I didn't understand a lot of things but now that I'm older I–"

"You're afraid that his rejection will take a huge toll on you," Gon cuts off.

Y/N chuckles bitterly. "Pretty much."

After Y/N has said that, Gon immediately lounges forward to give them the most comforting hug ever.

And for once in a while, Y/N has never felt so much better than before.
