Tonight was your first night patrol on the river, it was freezing cold. As an android, the air didn't effect you at all. But you knew that if you were to fall into the black icy river, your biocomponents would freeze and damage in seconds. Because of this knowledge, Connor was being overprotective and was pretty much hovering over your shoulder.

"Connor, relax. I'm not falling in." You carefully pushed him back. "The probability that you won't fall in is not as high as I would like it to be." Connor folded his arms. "Hey, as long as you don't push me off the boat, I'm fine." You joked, Connor gasped, fake offended "I would never!" Connor started to laugh by the time he said the last word.

In the distance you saw a small boat with two deviants. You drove your little police boat in front of them to cut them off. They came to a stop and looked terrified. "So, what brings you here on this illegal occasion?" You asked stepping onto their boat, Connor didn't like your choice of action. "P-please, we just want to be free. We w-want to escape from him." One of them pleaded. "Who is this 'him' you speakith of?" You asked sitting down on their boat while still holding onto your boat. "He, he was never happy with us. Even when we did what he asked, there was something wrong. He would beat us for our mistakes, or when he didn't have a good day. And use us for his pleasure." They explained, they were definitely comforted by your calm kind persona you were using, but we're still scared. "It seems like humans tend to treat androids like this very often. You look like you need a hug." You went in to give them both a hug, they hugged back and you took that as an advantage to shut them down. The skin on both of your hands disappeared and rested on both android's back, you deactivated them and they fell limp in your arms. You gently set them down, feeling guilty. "That was a smart tactic, but dangerous, you don't know how they could react." Connor scolded you. "Connor, I did the job, that's all I needed to do." You looked down at the androids, their once bright LED, now not lit at all. Connor noticed your somber tone "what's wrong?" He asked you grabbing your arm. "I just, they were treated terribly, but we're here to stop them from trying to protecting their selves. It just doesn't seem right." You answered honestly, avoiding the word 'feel'. "We are made to serve humans, no matter the condition. We are not alive, we hold no significance. They proved to be defective and they will be sent to cyberlife to be disassembled and analyzed." Connor was horrible at comforting, but he tried.

People came to pick up the androids and their boat and left you to repeat the process. There had been so many androids running from the same hell,

beaten, mistreated, abused, used,

every story was the same. After hearing the same sob story over and over again, it became easier to give them false-security before stripping them of their lives. The sun could be seen on the horizon, and you and Connor were able to go back to the house you were staying in.

"It's good to be on stable ground." You said sitting down. Connor looked down at the floor below him "yes, it is more... Pleasant." Connor seemed to be acting strange, like he was trying to be robotic. You sighed "I think I'm going to go into town, take a walk." You said walking over to the door. "I'll come with you." Connor insisted "I just want to clear my head, is it okay if I go alone?" You felt a little bad telling Connor 'no' but you just wanted to relax. "No problem, I'll be waiting here." Connor smiled at you before you walked out.

Town was a good two miles away, so it would be a good long walk. When you stepped outside the sun was out, but the snow wouldn't melt. There was a deserted road that lead to the town so you followed it. The snow crunched below your feet with each step you took, in a way it was relaxing.

After a while your thoughts started running. You spoke aloud sometimes "they all wanted to be safe..."
